Pokemon Umbral Theatre 36: We're Alone, We're Very Alone
I'm pretty damn sure that Professor Landry and NP Avatar is still going on, but it kinda feels like Pokemon Umbral here is the only currently running RP in all of Nuklear Power Forums...even though I will admit I'm not doing my job very well as GM, either. Otherwise these posts would've been done a lot sooner. A LOT sooner.
Anyways, time to observe the time honored tradition of tasteless pictures, found by me, immortalized by Menarker... Gawd, are these things even sold in stores anymore? I'm using this picture because I think it's about to lose its reference power. Haven't seen one of these things in years, usually only sold at a Spencers Gifts at the mall. Well, Valentine's Day wasn't too long ago, I guess. Best post this now or never. So...y'know...just go "dawwwwww, kawaii desu ne" and let's move on. I didn't think I had more than one Valentine's Day picture. Maybe the pictures I choose are trying to tell me to get off my ass and get a girlfriend...eh, screw that, I've got a Mass Effect trilogy to complete! Anyways, the Action Phase for the Lathiron fight turn 5 are done. I have to do some story elements and throw in a bunch of enemies and an allied formation to help control the fight some. Post will be done tomorrow for sure. Last edited by Astral Harmony; 09-07-2012 at 08:18 AM. |

... awwwwwww, those valentine's day pictures are awesome. Especially Dawn. That is easily one of the most emotion inducing expression/pose combination I have ever seen. ^.^
Anyhow, things been tough on my end, and will continue to be tough. (Been sick the last few days, some surprise assignments to do and all that). But I'm still looking on the pads and on here in case anyone directs a message to me or so. And yeah, those electric containers as shown more or less in the first pic still exist but more or less only sold in novelty items stores as far as I know. I can't believe I got this post out today. There was far more text than I intended and I fell in love with Trinity Universe for no reason again.
So, uhh...a few notes about the post: 1. You can have the PATCA Watchmen and 666th Naval Assault Corps only trade enemy formations. Basically, your formation and their formation trade places. You cannot trade individual units between yourselves...at least not right now. 2. Changing the weather will cause a Strategem Shift but sometimes won't work at all. For example, you can't eliminate Scalding Rain by changing it into a hailstorm. But, against the Charged Rain you could end up with electrified snow. The result of that? I'm not sure right now. 3. The effects of the two rain abilities is in the Information Phase at the very bottom of the post. 4. Because Hyacinth wasn't put into the formation for Menarker's post, I didn't place her in the formation during the Order Phase. Just plop 'er anywhere, I don't give a damn. 5. The two Skeldude (one in your enemy formation, one in Bernhardt's) are the remaining Skeldude who survived the Action Phase. 6. You can change from one enemy formation to the other before you start the next action phase. Since the formations are damn near identical, it shouldn't be hard for you to figure out the order of turns and figure out your tactics whether you stick with what you're fighting or trade and try you luck. 7. Don't worry about leaving the 666th with the stronger enemy. They can handle whatever Lathiron B or C will throw at them. Their existence is slowly to speed up the Lathiron battle so it keeps a relative pace with the Krunder battle. Okay, a lotta notes about the post. Anyways, hit me up for all the stupid things I may or may not have done with this post (y'know me, bowls of stupid and whatnot) and I'll try to correct them quickly. Hallucinacrums are cool, I almost wish we had one in the Krunder battle (not really, I don't want no Almighty type shooting at me right now.)

Editting this post 'cause I'm wholly against double-postin'.
Armored Bishoujo Says: "I'll put a link to this post on the public edupad. You guys can move it later if you like. Then I can update and edit this post as I see fit. My first, last, and only count tells me there's 30 optional dungeons here, so hopefully there's a little something for everyone. Be careful 'cause I put every single spoiler I've got in there. They've covered up so that if you don't like surprises, you can check 'em out and weigh your options." Optional Dungeons of Honmyr Optional Dungeons Completed: 0 Optional Dungeon Rewards in General... Completing 4 optional dungeons will allow you PCs to create UnionTechs with the NPCs of your choice, whether you brought him/her along with you or not. The maximum of earned possible UnionTechs done this way is 6. The maximum one can assign to any character is 3. Which means 9 UnionTechs in total if you add the 3 acquired during the story. Dungeon Types - Normal: normal battles, usually with one or two effects. Possibly a boss fight, but no more than one. - Boss Rush: all fights are boss fights. - Epic Boss: one big ol’ boss fight, normally encountered at the end of the mission. Otherwise it’s much like a Story type. - Experimental: this dungeon type can’t be beaten and can be abandoned at any time. - Player Vs Player: fight each other, for my enjoyment! So sayeth the bowls of stupid! - Story: not a single fight to be seen. Enjoy some additional story elements. Bandit Jungle - Mission Objective: Take on the Crimson Amazons! - Dungeon Type: Normal - Enemy Organizations: Crimson Amazons, Ruin Pokemon, Wild Pokemon - Wild Pokemon Types: Bug, Dragon, Flying, Grass, Ground, Poison, Rock, Water - Conditions of Battlefields: Hot and wet and crawling with irritating creatures. You know how jungles are. - Irene Says: “Since we’ve found some time to choose what we get to do, let’s go take the fight to someone. The Crimson Amazons sound good. Lately they’ve apparently been worshipping something and that’s why the city hasn’t come under attack by them as often.” - Completion Reward: Asteria (Grass General) will be defeated. Clawed Delta - Mission Objective: Remove the dams that are stopping the water flow. - Dungeon Type: Normal - Enemy Organizations: Wild Pokemon - Wild Pokemon Types: Any - Battlefield Conditions: Normal - Irene Says: “Sometimes Pokemon cause trouble for other Pokemon without really meaning to. Unfortunately, we can’t stand idly by while this continues. Some Pokemon have constructed natural dams that are blocking the waterways other Pokemon need to survive. Our objective will be to go there and destroy those dams. Obviously we’ll be opposed by the Pokemon that had built them in the first place, and we’re going to have to take them down, hopefully for some of the Police Force to help relocate them to better environments or perhaps a zoo.” - Completion Rewards: Cassus (Harbingers of Ascension) joins the party. Clenched Forest - Mission Objective: Something is killing the forest. Something is going to die. - Dungeon Type: Normal - Enemy Organizations: Crimson Amazons, Ruin Pokemon, Wild Pokemon - Wild Pokemon Types: Bug, Dark, Flying, Grass, Normal, Psychic - Conditions of Battlefields: Normal forest areas. - Irene Says: “The Clenched Forest is an interesting marvel of nature. Supposedly, some sort of ancient gravitational anomaly caused the trees and stuff to sort of arc towards the center of the forest. Anyways, now nature’s taking another strange turn. The forest is dying, and the citizenry demands to know why. The Police Force that investigated reported encounters with the Crimson Amazons, but I know it’s not their MO. They don’t even live there. I think they’re in there for the same reason we’re about to go there.” - Completion Reward: Anastalia (Crimson Amazons) joins the party. Helghran (Bug General) will be defeated. Colonized Beach - Mission Objective: Maintain the balance of the ecosystem. - Dungeon Type: Normal - Enemy Organizations: Wild Pokemon - Wild Pokemon Types: Any - Battlefield Conditions: Various terrains from jungle to beach to ocean. - Irene Says: “A balanced ecosystem is a happy ecosystem. Yet sometimes leaving an ecosystem completely undisturbed can also lead to an imbalance. Our mission is to methodically reestablish a balance to the wild ecosystem at Colonized Beach. To do this, we’ll need to enter battle with the local Pokemon but only kill certain ones. I can’t imagine this will sit well with some of you, but it just has to happen. As for the ones you mustn’t kill, we’ll use status effects to keep them from causing us too much trouble.” - Completion Reward: Pierre (Armed Civilians) joins the party. Devouring Catacombs - Mission Objective: Learn Irene’s past in relation to Adonova. - Dungeon Type: Story - Irene Says: “The Devouring Catacombs was a lot more homey years ago. What happened? Bezelain happened. You know, I feel a sudden urge to go check the place out. To see how different I feel about the decisions I made.” - Completion Reward: Story elements. Eternal Engine - Mission Objective: Investigate and neutralize the hostile takeover. - Dungeon Type: Normal - Enemy Organizations: Deification Front, Fear Vanguard, Wild Pokemon - Wild Pokemon Types: Dragon, Electric, Fighting, Fire, Flying, Rock, Steel - Conditions of Battlefields: Solid steel floors with a hot, dry environment. - Irene Says: “The Eternal Engine is a facility created by the Recycled City to provide much of its power and, secretly, to manufacture evolutionary stones, a process that isn’t illegal until the stones are used on Pokemon to help them evolve since it could endanger the Pokemon. The Recycled City is allowed to produce such stones because they only use them to power Evoliths. Recently, there’s been some kind of hostile assault on the Engine, and Iris’s finest are having trouble making any progress in the negotiations. However, PATCA doesn’t quite negotiate the way other people do. And by helping Iris, you’d be doing a huge favor to me as well.” - Completion Reward: Iris (Recycled City) joins the party. Everstone Glade - Mission Objective: The Deification Front is trying to neutralize the Everstone Lake’s powers. Stop them! - Dungeon Type: Normal - Enemy Organizations: Deification Front, Flame Warriors - Conditions of Battlefield: Normal - Irene Says: “Due to the rough and tumble lifestyle common in Honmyr, unevolved Pokemon are as rare as flat-chested women in an Armored Bishoujo RPG. It’s actually considered unlawful to forcibly remove any Pokemon from this area, by catching or otherwise, unless one files all the necessary paperwork and waits until they die of natural causes for some government official to give a damn. Therefore, people seldom bother and simply travel to Everstone Lake to admire its pristine beauty and see the rare Pokemon. Unfortunately, it looks like things there are no longer tranquil. The Deification Front has moved in to try and rid the lake of its Everstones while, believe it or not, a bunch of weirdos have gone in force to stop them, but they’re also causing damage. We’ll need to go in and make both sides heel.” - Completion Reward: Hannah (Flame Warriors) joins the party. Fossil Cliffs - Mission Objective: Investigate vandalism of the cliffs. - Dungeon Type: Normal - Enemy Organizations: Deification Front, Team Rocket, Wild Pokemon - Wild Pokemon Types: Bug, Dragon, Flying, Ground, Normal, Rock, Steel - Conditions of Battlefields: Be careful in not using attacks that would damage the terrain. You'd put PATCA in a financial bind. - Irene Says: “Archaeologists are crying for assistance. Someone’s been doing some unauthorized digging and fossil thefts are numbering in the possibility of hundreds. But a couple reports are special in that report the noise of combat. Speculators in the know say there’s infighting, but I take it that two different groups are after the same thing. Which means we won’t have one group to eliminate but two. I think we’ll be working with the Police Force on this one. Also, I'll warn you ahead of time: scientifically valuable fossils are all over the place in there, so be extremely careful with your attacks and limit damage to the environment.” - Completion Reward: Jenny (Police Force) joins the party. Gaea’s Naval - Mission Objective: Investigate the sudden rise of disorderly Pokemon. This dungeon must be completed in order to access Rapturous Depths. - Dungeon Type: Normal - Enemy Organizations: Ruin Pokemon, Wild Pokemon - Wild Pokemon Types: Bug, Flying, Grass, Ground, Normal, Rock, Water - Conditions of Battlefields: Some tight spaces. Steep climbs. - Irene Says: “There’s been a disturbing increase in Wild Pokemon attacks on people who venture into Gaea’s Naval. No casualties, but some people have been sent to the hospital for extended periods of time. Something down there is stirring them up and I’d like it if we can spare the time to go investigate.” - Completion Reward: Rapturous Depths becomes available. Grokest (Rock General) will be defeated. Grandeur’s Crevice - Mission Objective: Investigate several disappearances and murders. Unavailable until after Donovan's Sidequest. You must complete this dungeon to partially unlock Mystery Manor. - Dungeon Type: Normal - Enemy Organizations: Wicked Festival, Wild Pokemon - Wild Pokemon Types: Bug, Dark, Flying, Grass, Ground, Poison, Rock - Conditions of Battlefields: Very, very dark. Strong madness effects. - Irene Says: “Okay, mysterious disappearances and murders. Definitely something we should look in on. I suspect Madsoldiers given how close Grandeur’s Crevice is to the stationary Rezonscape epicenter, and of course the place is generally off limits due to that very reason, but some morons…anyways, public outcry and all that demands that we go have a look-see. Maybe it won’t be what we expect.” - Completion Reward: Story elements, more or less. Isle of Fire - Mission Objective: Stop the raging Mt Cerberus from annihilating the forest. - Dungeon Type: Mook Zerg - Enemy Organizations: Deification Front, Wild Pokemon - Wild Pokemon Types: Bug, Grass, Fire, Flying, Ground, Psychic, Rock, Steel - Conditions of Battlefields: Forest areas, minor seismic activity, forest fires and obscuring clouds of choking smog. - Irene Says: "Mt Cerberus was a beast of a volcano until the Isle of Fire was formed, then it more or less went dormant and has been expected to remain so for at least a few more decades. Something has reawakened its legendary fury. I suspect the Ruin General of fire. I mean, if Syndell likes ice, then obviously Fiernarog would prefer a hot, inhospitable volcano. But before we can confront Fiernarog, we’ll have to protect the island’s forest and Pokemon from the volcano’s wrath.” - Completion Reward: Mt Cerberus becomes available. Liviglyph Temple - Mission Objective: Collect an Arkment. - Dungeon Type: Normal - Enemy Organizations: Ancient Guardians, Wild Pokemon - Wild Pokemon Types: Dragon, Flying, Fire, Ghost, Ground, Psychic, Rock - Conditions of Battlefields: Relatively normal. - Irene Says: “One of the six Ruins of Resonance, the Liviglyph Temple, has come online. In order to destroy the Rezonscape, an artifact must be collected from this and the other Ruins of Resonance, but that can’t happen until they become activated. This would be the third ruin activation. We’ll need to head in, defeat the guardians of the ruins, and collect the artifact. I can’t wait to see what it is!” - Completion Reward: Acquire the Sentient Tattoo Arkment. Eldys can equip it. Metal Hell - Mission Objective: Try to track down Pokegeddon and check on another matter. - Dungeon Type: Normal - Enemy Organizations: Mourning Maw, Pokegeddon, Wild Pokemon - Wild Pokemon Types: Bug, Dark, Ghost, Normal, Poison, Steel, Water - Conditions of Battlefields: Pipes. Big, metal, smelly, humid pipes. - Irene Says: “Finding Pokegeddon won’t be as easy as simply going down into Metal Hell. It’s a labyrinth, that place, and the odds of finding someone who doesn’t want to be found are pretty piss poor. But I do need to look into something else. There’s a special skull-like artifact that I need to check up on. Okay, I’ll admit it, it’s a secret entrance to somewhere. Don’t get excited ‘cause we can’t use it. Not without another certain something from a certain someone else.” - Completion Reward: Charlie (Mourning Maw) joins the party. Crimson Beowulf (Gabriel Force) will be defeated. Some story elements. Miasma Mountain Range - Mission Objective: Track down the source of the strange electronic signals. - Dungeon Type: Normal - Enemy Organizations: Honmyr Prideguard, Wild Pokemon - Wild Pokemon Types: Bug, Dragon, Ghost, Ground, Poison, Rock, Steel - Conditions of Battlefields: Toxic, obscuring miasma in the air. - Irene Says: “We’ll prepare well so that we won’t suffer the deadly toxins in the air, but that won’t remove how difficult it can be the see in the miasma. And blasting it with Defog will only help so much. Anyways, Natalya says that they’ve been picking up mysterious radio signals coming from within the mountains. Due to the miasma, there really shouldn’t be anyone over there, so we should investigate to see if someone’s in trouble…or if it’s something far more sinister.” - Completion Reward: Ciel (PATCA) joins the party. Diamond Gunscissor (Gabriel Force) will be defeated. Moonlight Cove - Mission Objective: The full moon brings horrible danger all of a sudden. Unavailable until after you’ve completed Donovan’s Sidequest and is a required dungeon for Mystery Manor. - Dungeon Type: Normal - Enemy Organizations: Harbingers of Ascension, Wicked Festival, Wild Pokemon - Wild Pokemon Types: Bug, Dark, Flying, Grass, Ground, Rock, Water - Battlefield Types: Normal - Irene Says: “Moonlight Cove is a little too romantic for my tastes. And now, for some reason, it’s a very, very hostile place during the full moon. Now that a good dozen or so horny bastards trying to get it on with their girlfriends have been horribly murdered, PATCA has been put on the job. I’ve seen some pictures of the crime scenes. These people were butchered pretty damn bad. Mutilated bodies in a place designed to bring lovers closer together? Does anyone like me expect to run into a guy with a hockey mask and a rusty machete?” - Completion Reward: Lorraine (Armed Civilian) joins the party. Mt Cerberus - Mission Objective: Defeat Fiernarog. This mission isn’t available until Isle of Fire has been completed. - Dungeon Type: Normal - Enemy Organizations: Ruin Pokemon, Wild Pokemon - Wild Pokemon Types: Dark, Fighting, Fire, Ghost, Ground, Poison, Rock - Battlefield Types: Hot, dry, suffocating heat and scalding steam with a dash of rivers and pools of magma. - Irene Says: “Yep, Mt Cerberus is definitely active. Watch your asses in there. Fiernarog would almost have to be there. Just like how Syndell can control ice with ease, I bet Fiernarog is able to twist the inexhaustible fury of Mt Cerberus to his whims. Seriously, in this mission, the environment could be just as dangerous as the Ruin General himself.” - Completion Reward: Garmrokkr (Legendary Fire/Dark can be used by Pokemon Trainers and Snaggers. Fiernarog (Fire General) will be defeated. Mystery Manor - Mission Objective: Solve the mystery behind Charlotte and Phantomere. This mission is available only after Donovan’s Sidequest has been completed, and then you must complete Grandeur's Crevice, Moonlight Cove, and Shipwreck Graveyard. - Dungeon Type: Normal - Enemy Organizations: Harbingers of Ascension, Mourning Maw, Wicked Festival, Wild Pokemon - Wild Pokemon Types: Dark, Flying, Ghost, Normal, Poison, Psychic - Conditions of Battlefields: Shape of room, small indoor areas, strong madness effects. - Irene Says: "I like to think we're about to come to an end with our investigation into what happened to Charlotte Beaufort. Ever since these encounters with her, a massive source of madness has erupted in the vicinity of Mismagius Manor, or Mystery Manor as it is more popularly known. This could be one of our dealiest missions yet. Let's bring maximum force with us." - Completion Reward: Dark Charlotte joins the party during certain battles. No Man’s Land - Mission Objective: Learn about the two Successionary Wars. - Dungeon Type: Epic Boss - Enemy Organizations: Fear Vanguard - Conditions of Battlefield: Nothing special. Just a hot, dry grassland near the desert. - Irene Says: “Many places saw heavy fighting and casualties during the First and Second Successionary Wars, but the No Man’s Land is one of the more infamous ones. I’ll tell you all about it and the wars fought on it when we get there. Just note that it won’t be a good place for a picnic.” - Completion Reward: The fight is its own reward. “Offlands” - Mission Objective: Fight ridiculously random battles at any time for unique training. - Dungeon Type: Experimental - Enemy Organizations: Anything…anything at all. - Conditions of Battlefields: Anything and everything. Wheee! - Irene Says: “The place warps time and space using the powers of madness, and even though this place has been put through all kinds of scans, no one can tell if the powers of this place are real or merely some mass hallucination. Anything can happen in there so we have to set up a special teleportation device so that you can escape immediately if things go to shit.” - Completion Reward: You cannot complete this dungeon. Old Pirate Fortress - Mission Objective: Someone is trying to use the place as a base of operations. We will make that someone go away. Completing this dungeon is a prerequisite to taking on the Shipwreck Graveyard, which actually makes it another prerequisite to taking on Mystery Manor. - Dungeon Type: Normal - Enemy Organizations: Team Rocket - Battlefield Conditions: There are ruined structures spread throughout the dungeon. It’s relatively hot and humid. - Irene Says: “Okay, a famous historian went to research the old pirate fortress in the far east of Honmyr. He was attacked, though the way he puts it, they weren’t after his life and he managed to escape capture. Still, someone’s going to have to investigate, and I guess it falls to us to do that investigating. Our objective is to clear out that fort, plain and simple. Questions can come later. We should beware, however, that with the structures of the old fortress, the enemy may wisely have set up effective Sniper and Destroyer positions. It won‘t be an easy assault.” - Completion Reward: Misa (Team Rocket) joins the party. Prototype Defense Platform - Mission Objective: Shoot down and destroy Amplaive. - Dungeon Type: Epic Boss - Enemy Organizations: Ruin Pokemon - Conditions of Battlefields: Normal for now, but… - Irene Says: “According to Lord Idolus, Amplaive has left the stratosphere and is a grave threat to all life on Honmyr with his pinpoint beam cannons. That he hasn’t employed them is a mystery that we unfortunately cannot solve. Marionata says he’s probably sleeping. Anyways, Ricewood Masterworks was funded to create a special cannon platform designed to bring down flying objects from lower orbit, and we’ll be cutting the red tape by bringing the Ruin General of the Electric type down from outer space. From there, we’ll use both the skills of PATCA and the other weaponry to finally destroy him.” - Completion Rewards: Amplaive (Electric General) joins the party. Rapturous Depths - Mission Objective: See how compatible you are with someone you love. This dungeon isn’t available until Gaea’s Naval has been completed. - Dungeon Type: Story - Irene Says: “I know a lot about the place from hearsay and rumors, but I never found a good enough reason to go check it out. However, with the dangerous battles we’ve been fighting lately and the escalation towards some epic conclusion still not in sight, we should acquire any advantage we can. While we might learn some things about ourselves that we’d rather not admit, we should one day venture down there and see if we can’t acquire that mysterious sword.” - Completion Reward: Acquire the Sexcalibur sword, which is supposedly capable of bolstering the power of UnionTechs. Shipwreck Graveyard - Mission Objective: Oh, lovely. Ghost ships. This mission is unavailable until Donovan’s Sidequest and Old Pirate Fortress have been completed and is a prerequisite to taking on Mystery Manor. - Dungeon Type: Normal - Enemy Organizations: Mourning Maw, Wicked Festival - Conditions of Battlefields: Fragile wood floors, some water layers. - Irene Says: “There’s some kind of battle going on at the Shipwreck Graveyard. I don’t recognize either side of the struggle from the reports, though they both seem to have immense combat potential and relentless ferocity, which just screams Mourning Maw. If and when we go, let’s bring our A-games and take no prisoners.” - Completion Reward: A Lathiron (Water General) joins the party. Sparta Arena - Mission Objective: Be the best that no one ever was. - Dungeon Type: Player Vs Player - Enemy Organizations: Various combinations - Conditions of Battlefields: Starts out normal, then who knows what’ll happen?! - Irene Says: “So you guys wanna fight each other? Test your skills on your equals? Just be careful. The one who runs the entire arena is a weirdo girl who likes to pit mismatched people together just to see if love may blossom. The battlefield conditions can change at her discretion as well. But something has been off for a while. There’ve been far more tournaments these days than usual, and the crowd is getting crazier and crazier, even instigating violence and riots. It won’t be long before it falls out of the jurisdiction of the Police Force, and then the Prideguard will investigate it, and we don’t really want that. Part of PATCA’s operation is to investigate this new rise in the number of tournaments and the…ahem…passion of the spectators.” - Completion Rewards: Spartina (Sparta Arena) joins the party. Wrek (Fighting General) will be defeated. Submerged Maw - Mission Objective: Capture the Legendary Pokemon Malboreal. - Dungeon Type: Normal - Enemy Organizations: Wild Pokemon - Wild Pokemon Types: Dark, Grass, Ice, Poison, Water - Battlefield Conditions: Undersea combat. The deeper you go, the colder and darker it gets. - Irene Says: “A lot of the legendaries around Honmyr have already been caught, but there is one that has eluded capture for many years, and I figure that if anyone can catch it, it has to be PATCA. The most elusive legendary Pokemon, Malboreal, is also reputed to be Honmyr’s strongest. But he’s also obviously going to be the hardest to acquire. He dwells at the very bottom of the Devouring Maw, a massive underwater pit, and only attacks those who venture to close, and only with maximum fury. I won’t lie to you. Acquiring Malboreal could be a challenge on par with defeating a Ruin General.” - Completion Reward: Malboreal (Legendary Water/Grass) can be used by Pokemon Trainers and Snaggers. Sunken Commonwealth - Mission Objective: Defeat the Azureal Mafia! - Dungeon Type: Normal - Enemy Organizations: Azureal Mafia - Conditions of Battlefields: Underwater combat. - Irene Says: “The Sunken Commonwealth prefers to keep to itself, but this is one of those rare occasions where it feels it must appeal to us ‘surface monkeys’ to lend a hand. The Azureal Mafia is conducting a hostile takeover of the entire Sunken Commonwealth, and we think they may be trying to impose some kind of sea travel tax for the various businesses that conduct business using sea vessels, and there are almost a hundred businesses that do. So it’s actually pretty important that we assist the Sunken Commonwealth in dealing with these hostile thugs. Caution should be taken when we go there, though. As the vast majority of them will be Water Pokebrids, they’ll be a lot more used to fighting underwater than we will. We should probably bring our own water specialists.” - Completion Reward: Morrigan (Azureal Mafia) joins the party. Tri-Scar Canyon - Mission Objective: Defend the Kimonos from the Prideguard. Unavailable after Prideguard HQ. - Dungeon Type: Normal - Enemy Organizations: Honmyr Prideguard - Conditions of Battlefields: multiple, cramped bottlenecks inside the ruins. Dry, cool interior. - Irene Says: “The Prideguard doesn’t want either us or the Ruin Generals near those ruins since they haven’t been able to investigate it themselves in order to acquire the power one might find beneath the seal. All we’ll want to do is buy Mika some time to at least record all the murals if not decipher them right on the spot. We’ll need to hold the Prideguard in a few different tight bottlenecks to keep them from getting to her. They’ll undoubtedly be forced into fighting us in manageable numbers over a long time to tire us out, so expect a large number of reinforcements until we’re done. Due to the tight quarters, Destroyers would be unable to participate, but we can still squeeze in Snipers. Formations will have to be really small, though.” - Completion Reward: Story elements. Indigo Barrage (Gabriel Force) will be defeated. Weapons Graveyard - Mission Objective: Fight the wrath of the machines. - Dungeon Type: Epic Boss - Enemy Organizations: Discarded Gods - Conditions of Battlefields: Grassy plains. Nothing else. - Irene Says: “We’re getting reports of strange activity at the old Weapons Graveyard. We think the Fear Vanguard may be trying to salvage the broken down machines there and convert them into useable forms to gain some advantage in battle.” - Completion Reward: Lexhur (Steel General) gains a second version body in the sequel. White Wastelands - Mission Objective: Force all aggressions to cease, by force if necessary. Awesome. - Dungeon Type: Boss Rush - Enemy Organizations: Fear Vanguard, Honmyr Prideguard, Ruin Pokemon - Conditions of Battlefields: endless blizzards, deep snow, blistering chills, no natural protection from the biting cold winds. - Irene Says: “Hope you guys like cold nipples. The wastelands are basically plains where nothing is stopping the bone-chilling gale force winds from blasting everything. You may not even be able to heat things up with Sunny Day. When the Fear Vanguard tried to set up a stronghold there, the Honmyr Prideguard dutifully made an appearance to suppress them. Unfortunately for both sides, Syndell the Ice Ruin General has made the White Wastelands her home as well, and I don’t think there’s ever been so much red in the snow. The Prideguard’s holding their ground thanks to the Gabriel Force’s own Emerald Fortress, and the Fear Vanguard has brought in some heavy artillery of their own. Well, I think we’d be better off if all three sides in the struggle lost horribly. And PATCA’s the one who’ll bring hell to the arctic tundra. Due to the strong, obscuring blizzards, our Snipers and Destroyers could run into some trouble optimizing their potential damage.” - Completion Reward: Natalya (PATCA) joins the party. Emerald Fortress (Gabriel Force) and Syndell (Ice General) will be defeated. Wingswept Desert - Mission Objective: Neutralize some of the Prideguard HQ defenses ahead of the decisive assault in the future. This mission becomes unavailable after Prideguard HQ mission. - Dungeon Type: Normal - Enemy Organizations: Honmyr Prideguard, Ruin Pokemon, Wild Pokemon - Wild Pokemon Types: Dark, Fire, Flying, Ghost, Ground, Normal, Rock, Steel - Conditions of Battlefields: Hot, arid environment with large sand dunes and the occasional sandstorm. - Irene Says: “The Prideguard’s been setting up bunkers and automated mechanical defenses in several areas that are relatively distant from the headquarters. If we’re quick and decisive in our assaults, the Prideguard’s defenses could be greatly diminished before they even find out what must have happened to those defensive positions. If we can destroy them now, our path to the headquarters would be a lot quicker and more efficient.” - Completion Reward: The Prideguard HQ mission will change. Walthair (Flying General) will be defeated. Last edited by Astral Harmony; 05-16-2012 at 05:53 PM. |

The above look interesting, but there are some comments and balance issues I want to make.
A: Some of the Rewards for the missions has not been spoilered tagged (in case you care about that). B: If I'm getting you straight, you're suggesting that someone could possibly have a total of 11 Union Techs (for doing 8+ missions)? That sounds so incredibly broken and complex. With all due respect, if I could make a suggestion, maybe alter it so that completing the missions increased the number of partners who can use Union Techs with your partner and allow any of your partners to use any of your two (later three) union techs. That way there isn't an explosion of new techniques to make things super complex, and the characters aren't really made more powerful than they already are, but they are that powerful more often/easily due to the increased flexibility in who you can have as your partner. Of course, the question then is to ask how many partners for Union Techs do you want the PC to have. Maybe make it a nice round 10? Since you were going to give up to 8 additional NPCs and we would had 3 more after getting a third tech. C: I object to Sexcalibur having the ability to boost Uniontechs unless it 1: Grants the bonus to all PCs (somehow). 2: Provide other missions (probably the ones with little to no reward) with items of the same effect. The problem is that, as currently described, the item boosts one character only, is first come first serve, and there doesn't seem to be any duplicate... Hence my above suggestions. D: I notice that one of the items is an Arkament that Eldys can equip, but I don't recall her being a playable member of PATCA or one of the missions making her available. Clarify? Later on, I'll attempt to write a little chart showing which missions are linked to each other by pre-res to avoid confusion... Last edited by Menarker; 05-15-2012 at 04:43 PM. |

A: Meant to do that.
B: Wow, you read that waaaay wrong. You need to do 3 optional dungeons to gain 1 UnionTech. You can only gain a maximum of 8 this way, which requires you to do a grand total of 24 optional dungeons. C: I haven't ironed out the specifics behind the Sexcalibur (running ideas through my head right now) but that's how it is. Relax, it'll be fair somehow. D: Eldys joins Impact during the sequel, and acquires her equipment regardless. In a way, the Liviglyph Temple becomes a sort of mandatory missable mission for the Impact side. |

Nice setup, and I like how a lot of these will be relevant enough to the story to be worth doing.
I vote for the Colonized Beach mission first if we want to ease into this setup, but otherwise we should take it head-on and start with Weapons Graveyard. |

Might serve us well to do Tri-Scar Canyon and Wingswept Desert before they become unavailable.
Not immediately, mind you, but not too late.

I will note that the ones I'm most excited about are White Wastelands and Sparta Arena.
