Do you have any sort of thing that's been bugging you, whether it be an urban myth or something else along those lines which you want to know the truth behind?

Perhaps someone on the forums can answer your question!

~~ My own person question is this:
I heard that Pepsi and Coke are owned by, roughly, the same company and also have almost the same overall ingredriant, but that the main difference in flavoring comes not from what is put in it but rather the water they use to make the two soda pops. Fact? Or FICCTIOONNN?

pepsiCo is it's own independant branch from the coca cola company. They are registered as standalone companies.

The ingredients in the two will obviously be similar because they are, in fact, similar drinks. the different is the key ingredients and the proportions used, Not in the quality of the water they use. Both Companies use distilled water to keep impurities out.

Kinda makes me wonder why coke would allow their products in a pepsi commercial that's obviously slamming coke...

Pepsi and Coke are in no ways part of the same company. One doesn't own another, they are not partners, and one is not part of another. They are completely separate with their own CEOs and marketers and stuff. They spend multi-millions in marketing against the other. They're both really really old, and not connected at all. Who told you such lies?

It's about the same as everything- rumors and urban myths will be around for as long as people make up shit that's beleivable and uncheckable.

Here's one: John Bruce Thompson owns a 15% share in Rockstar Games.

Here's another: Brian Clevinger only uses 70% recycled paper for his books because he wants to help the enviroment.

Both COULD be true, but if the facts are out there, it'd be quite hard to get ahold of them without the person in question stepping forward and saying, "Yo, that shit ain't right." You can make anything into an Urban myth with a bit of work.

But here's one I can't find the answer to that has had me curious:

Will magnets actually screw up your credit and debit cards?

If you trust Mythbuster's answers, they found that you would need to pass your card through a magnetic field with a strength of about a 1000 gauss to mess it up. That's far more than most people are likely to encounter, I believe. Cards hold up very well to most ordinary magnetic fields.

As someone who has to work with debit/credit cards all the time, I can say that holding a magnet next to your card will not do anything really detrimental to the card. However, after a few years of use, there is going to be a noticable difference in how well the card works.
