It was always made by Konami, not Nintendo. So while you could play as Snake on the ol' NES system, he was never a Nintendo character.

true he wasn't but from what I heard, he is now. The next MG title will be for the *grits teeth* Wii. By the way is the...wii, going to be released this fall in Japan or next spring?

As for new weapons, hmm what about the systems themselves. Like the pokeballs you get one and a character from that system is brought out.

Hmm wonder if we will get Sonic. Dont get me wrong, I doubt Sonic would work in this game but still curious. Oh and lets hope people like Captain Falcon and Ganondorf are more different. I mean I can understand the incarnations of mario being simular, but come on they aren't even in the same genre

Just thinking about it makes me know that he'd be just Fox all over again. All of his special moves seem appropriate (the sheild bubble, forward dash, burst of fire, etc).

Yeah, like that'll happen. Konami giving up the rights Snake to be a Nintendo character? Especially considering the fact that the next game won't (at least initially) be on the Wii? MG4 comes out on the PS3 first.

No, what I see happening is that the Super Smash Battle games are opening themselves up to non-Nintendo characters. Konami hasn't given up the rights, just the permission to use Snake.

Still, since Snake is here, I'm wondering if maybe Optimus Prime might show up as well (Snake & Optimus Prime were in a Super Smash Battle-type game of their own, but I think it was only released in Japan). I'd love to see Prime deliver the smackdown on Mario.

I don't really think anyone can admit to seeing Snake coming for Smash Bros, unless they are one of the 50 people who knew previously that Kojima wanted Snake in Melee.

I guessed they were going to add 3rd party characters because eventually they'd run out of BIG name Nintendo characters, but I was guessing Sonic/Tails, Mega Man and maybe something random like a Belmont or Alucard. Never would have guessed Snake even if you gave me 100 guesses. I would have picked someone like Terry Boguard before him!

Not that I'm complaining. I think this is one of the smartest things Nintendo has ever done. Not only are they making a Wii game that's their own property and a very Nintendo-esque game, but at the same time they're doing what many people were making fun of them for not doing over the last 5 years. Both in the same game. It really feels like a lot of the Wii's strategy, of being totally new and well...'Nintendo' while somehow doing what a ton of PSX or XBOX fans have been telling them to do the last gen. Its just time to see if these people who made all these brash statements last gen about Nintendo will follow up and actually get one, or if they will show that they were the ones who were just following a perticular console company (as most XBOX and PS2 owners claimed Nintendo fans were doing last gen).

well not like Sony has any rights to it. Also wouldn't be first time a game changed systems before release. I am not saying that is what will happen but never mind. Besides MGS was never Playstation exclusive.

Reason I am not that suprised is the MGS creator has expressed alot of desire to work on nintendo's new system.

Agreed. Of all the characters, he was the last one I would have expected. Fanboys all across the world (myself included) want Mega Man, even though it'd just be Kirby/Samus fused. Which would rock. I mean, seriously, Up B = Top Spin, -> B, Copy ability, standard B Buster Cannon, and Down B Crash Bombs.

All they have to do is make an attack movelist for him and they've got a fanbase. And I've already said my piece about having Leon Belmont in the game.

And, the Force is telling me Krylo is going to close the thread. Which isn't a bad idea.
