Double Down is a term in Blackjack describing a particular kind of bet where you double your wager and take exactly one more card face down. After that card, you automatically stand on your hand. Lady luck takes over, essentially. I think Lyra was referring to gambling in general, though.

This is why I typically include pics of me with my kids...it tends to cut down on the...ummm...well the type of comments you are referring to!

I tend get remarks on my kids rather than myself.

I was trying more for the "haha, pirate speak" than the "ewww, creepy" thing. If i remember right, the last time i used language like that was on "talk like a pirate day" amongst my friends, and the homoeroticism was palpable.
