And in regard to crits, you're forgetting speed-buff moves. Anyone with more than 60 base speed could agility themselves to 25% crit. And I'm not sure where stages 4 and 5 would be on your scale, but I'm thinking anything above 200 speed will reach 5. Which'd mean 50% crit chance, without any buffs.
Plus, yeah. Maybe my example wasn't good. But I'm sure we could twist the numbers to improve it. I think a digital system is better than a progressive one in any case. The order won't really change anything about the power, but try not getting your most powerful levels to begin with. We want progression to be balanced as well as total power. And eh. I want to finish this now, I won't have time for balancing by the time we reach next mission. So is 4/8 acceptable? |

I said that Rank 4 and 5 would not be accessible by speed alone. You'd need an item, ability or move to reach Rank 4 and 5. I figured you can only go so far with speed alone. Just like how being able to benchpress 200 lbs and being super strong is not going to enable you to drive nails into wood without a proper tool like a hammer. 25% is pretty good for moves whose effect does not include improved critting. For those who REALLY want crit, there is the item Dire Hit, which is available to Medics for +2 stage boost.
I'm not fine with 4/8... maybe a few more elements at Overblade 2 or 3? Something like 4/8/12? By then everyone should be reaching pretty close or reached their peak in power. Last edited by Menarker; 09-02-2010 at 12:47 AM. |

12 at Overblade 2 would be acceptable. We can count it as part of your uber-upgrade, you'd just be getting half early and the other half later.
Though we wouldn't finalize this until we know what your pokemon is, and my condition would be that you agree to let paradigm shifting remain as it is, if you hadn't done so already. Edit: Though pending Menarker no long being so damn secretive, does anyone else have objections to Menarker's upgrades? If not, I'd say that we've got our template. 1 down, 4 to go. |

Well.
It's about time. I'll be posting my first one conveniently at a time when Geminex is busy all day every day.

Ok, going to repost the template in a finalized form for reference and making sure I didn't miss anything.
Already Earned Level 5 onwards Conditional Upgrades Things I still need to do: Trainer Actions: I only made one, although I said I would break that approved one into two (the part of getting 5 rage). Still need a third. Testament Drive: AB said we can customize our Testament Drives. Do you guys think we should do that? Or we stick with Testament Drive being one of the types of the pokemon selected upon each use and the move just have freakishly high power? Gem, did you notice the most recent comment I made regarding Crit? The one where speed alone can't get anyone to Stage 4 or 5? *Colored it in now* What is your thoughts on that? I dunno about Testament Drives.
Like I said, they're already a lot like Signature Techniques. If we can just customize them willy-nilly we're effectively giving Trainers and Snaggers more Signature Techniques.

Yeah, what rules applied to testament Drives anyway? I don't remember discussing that, it was probably while I was moving. Quick recap?
Also, Menarker, you didn't edit ICT in the conditional upgrades. You should probably do that, or people will get confused. |

Testament Drives?
Ummmm... Legendaries only, cost 50 RPs. High-power move of the same primary type (I think) of the pokemon that uses it.
