It just ends up seeming really forced and kind of takes me out of the story. Also it kind of plays up the kind of "the only important character is the main hero, everyone else only matters to the extent that they service his personal journey" vibe that I don't really enjoy. ...Like, they kill the cat in just the most ridic, offhanded way, it was just like... really? I could even kind of buy killing the old guy but the cat is just slapped on there. Aside from that I should add that it did a good job of like, being an anime which relies heavily on unknowns, mysteries and conspiracies to build its appeal but then like actually revealing/resolving all of that stuff in a way that's interesting, satisfying, and makes sense of the stuff that led up to it. Fist bump.

Am I the only person that hated the ending to Puella Magi Madoka Mindfuck?

I can see why you might hate it, but you're wrong for hating it.
lolkj I can totally see where you're coming from. I happened to enjoy it, personally.

Why didn't I think of this sooner??
Fifth, if you don't have an irrational hatred of old shows check out Samurai Pizza Cats. It's the best show. The best show.

I'm going to throw out a Steins;Gate recommendation for anyone looking for a good show. It's got silly animu humor, a self-proclaimed mad scientist who thinks Dr Pepper is the drink of the intellectual just because it has Dr in the name, and bizarre time travel shenanigans. I just started watching it and I can't stop.

Everybody seems to talk about Paprika the most out of Satoshi Kon's filmography, which I don't quite get since it's the clunkiest his movies. Fifth, watch Perfect Blue. (Which coincidentally legitimately did influence both Black Swan and Requiem for a Dream.) And Millennium Actress. You can pretend that there are swords 'n guns. |

Millenium Actress and Tokyo Godfathers are the best movies of his I've seen. Merely talked about Paprika cuz someone else brought it up. Clunky, but in ways that fit a movie about dreams. Still Susumu Hirasawa's best soundtrack.

That is a truth. That in tandem with the little spectacles like the parade does make for a rather delightful film.

Fifth. You seem to be on the fence about Summer Wars. I'm gonna throw in another seconding for it, as I've recently seen it and loved it.
It's like... OK, you know the first half of that Digimon movie? The part that was all about a virus that invaded the phone lines, screwed with everyone's computers, and almost launched a nuke? See, it's by the same guy who directed that movie, so it's like you took that movie, made it about modern internet capabilities (Well, OK, slight-future internet capabilities. It involves an enormous online service that ranges everything from online games to credit handling) and threats (Identity theft and phishing kick off the plot of the movie), removed the link to the Digimon franchise, and made the real-world half of the plot more compelling, while keeping the "inside the Internet" portions action-packed and a blast to watch. Plus, the art style rocks, and there's more than a hint of War Games in the plot and its execution. Also? There are multiple fight scenes involving a badass kung-fu rabbit-boxer guy fighting what appears to be an evil deva. The movie just completely rocks. Go see it.
