Secondly, I always figured that Goku's moves were all beams of energy; just with varying degrees. Superman Has many different types of powers, so he can be creative with his attacks. Although I guess if Goku is fighting for his friends or something (I don't really watch the series) then maybe he'll come up with something.

I'm not sure if chi counts as magic, but, if it does, Goku easily wins.

If not, Goku is still a hundred million times stronger than Doomsday and Superman combined, and could, therefore, most likely transcend Superman's invulnerability--I mean, Superman seems invulnerable to US, but even Krillian is more invulnerable than Superman.

Even if he couldn't, one good punch would send Superman through most of the planet and into deep space.

Also: Afro vs Jack: I've not seen Afro Samurai, but it's really hard to imagine anyone beating Jack. That said, if someone could, it would be a samurai Samuel L. Jackson, so, you know, whatever.

Nameks vs Saiyans (fuck anal ass japanophile spellings): Every Saiyan we see is stronger than every Namek we see. Both are strong enough that the majority of their actual technology is pointless in a war. Though the Nameks could probably wish the Saiyans away/out of existence/themselves stronger than the Saiyans. So if the Nameks get a chance to use the Dragonballs, they win. If not, the Saiyans win.

Superman vs Goku could potentially go either way. Both have some pretty ludicrous powers, and are essentially living plot devices.

I tend to go with Goku both because he's willing to kill, and because he has far far far more consistent showings, whereas Superman ranges from helping to move the Earth to being at the mercy of frickin Lana Lang (seriously, you have SUPER SPEED. There should have been a Lana-shaped hole in the wall before she even finished saying "kryptonite bomb"). Also, chi is magic, and while Clark isn't as vulnerable to that as he used to be, it still is a weakness he can't abide here.

Goku has also proven that he can fight at his teleportation speed, which is fast enough to get him into a whole other galaxy *instantly.* Not even PC Superman could match that kind of speed (though there were times when he wasn't far off).

He also has some psychic talents that aren't mentioned too often, but are implied to be used constantly when he fights.

IIRC Dragonball portrayed magic as something separate from chi. Past that, it doesn't really function anything like magic in the DCU such that it would be expected to affect Supes the same way.

That said, Goku still wins, unless you take the most absurdly powerful, planet-juggling, time-traveling-at-will version of Supes.

Re: Afro vs. Jack... difficult to call, but I give the edge to Jack on the grounds that he has at least some degree of being magically empowered (I figure Afro would count as close enough to evil for Jack's sword to work against him). Afro is probably more skilled and definitely more savage but I don't know that's going to count for a lot when Jack goes "Magic katana, lolz" and cuts Afro's sword in half.

It's more a separation between western and eastern magic. It was certainly played in a much more mystical tone in the original series. That just went away as it became more commonplace, which makes sense, because it's hard to be mysterious when not being able to fly is equated with not being able to walk.

I'll concede the point though, as it's probably not what Superman's writers are thinking of.

Yeah, no one short of the omnipotent figures in comicbook universes stand a chance against the Emperor. While he can't out and out destroy a planet, his powers are broken in a less destructive way. I mean to sustain his mental energy they have to sacrifice ten thousand psychics daily. Psychics who are on par with any typical psychic like Jean Grey (Psykers are some seriously nasty fellows!). That's his daily meal. He literally eats the likes of typical Jean Grey ten thousand times a day for bare minimum sustinence.

There is a reason a few trillion beings worship him, and not for crazy superstitious junk either! They just don't want to be mind nuked really.

As another comparison we can take a look at his enemies. Aside from the Space Elves(Eldar!), the main enemy the Emperor had was the Chaos Gods who are essentially each some absolute representation of evil things in the universe, and even they didn't want to go head to head with him because they were quite sure he would kick their asses in a personal fight. S'why they turned his clone/son super evil, charged him with all sorts of chaos magicks, and then the Emperor let himself get mortally crippled before one shot mind nuking Horus.

Sounds like he's around the level of a Final Fantasy endboss.

Based on what I'm hearing, I wouldn't say so. He may be thematically the biggest bad-ass in is universe, but the heavy hitters in comic books have done far more impressive things than him. That has nothing to do with RPGs, but the original point I was responding to was that he's too uber for comics. It's not gonna take the omnipotents to deal with him.

I wouldn't put him above say... Exodus, or Kuja, or Kefka.
