how i missed this i don't know....but the text in 434 DOES look alot like the hell king BM text he had in those few strips. also if you want to take the last two panels in their own context, they fit. BM said that one day he'd find it hilarious, and if you notice in the last text box in the second to last panel, he does say that he did find it funny. right after is his speech about how one day he WOULD find it funny. and the colorization of the text....too close a resemblance to the hell king BM to be a coincidence.

That's why it's widely believed that the first speaker is indeed BM.
Plus he's like the main(est) character. |

True, and Fighter is believed by some for many reasons but also because he is really the second main character. You may disagree with me on this, but personally I see that most of the characters in 8 Bit Theater are rather static compared to BM, Fighter, and WM.
That's personally why I think that RM or Thief would only be used in this dialogue as either an anti-climactic event or just a way for Brian to catch some of us off-guard.

He's not thief. Brian gave us a list of people it could be in an earlier thread (fighter, rm, and wm.) In this thread, he hinted that it WASN'T wm. So the only POSSIBLE choices are RM and Fighter. It's not thief.

Going on the theory that Thief's text-colour will change, (which I doubt...) I'd say that maybe it is all three of them talking to Black Mage after White Mage's death.
The panels are the events showing White Mage's descent into insanity, eventually leading to 'become Chaos' and have her have to be killed at the hands of the Light Warriors at the end, lest she destory the universe. This is the final conversation after the battle, maybe before they all go their seperate ways.

If WM goes insane, she has to learn black magic and learn Ultima. Just because I've been predicting that BM might use it at some point, but a psychotic tree-hugger gone evil using one of the most powerful destructive spells in existance would just be too cool.

Curious mind would like to know. If Thief would eventually get a class change and turn red, how come the "corpse" in the first panel happens to be Thief in brownish color?
I'm just askin'...

"Corpse?" Tell us how it is undeniably a corpse. And if they undergo a class change, which I think they will, comic 300 shows how he is red.

First off, it's been said that when they class change, it's very, very, very likely they'll look like this.
How is that not a corpse? Well, in my own perspective, that... thing... is too blur to really make something out of it. Corpses included.

Carnivore, I really like that idea. The whole insanity thing.
And I have thought of Theif's box color changing after his class change (possible, though it would get a bit confusing...), but I've thought about it, and... well, I don't know. Until I read what Brian put on this thread, I though it was WM, and the color was changed just to make it confusing, but hey, he shot it down. Think about it, though. Theif and Red Mage are main characters, but they're not really that important in comparison to Black Mage and Fighter. So I'm going with Fighter for that mysterious speaker. While I believe he can talk like that, it seems a bit OOC. But there is change option. |
