Okay, I'm having some issues with VBA's Gameshark function. The codes I have for Trapinch (including the Master code) only seem to slow down the emulation to about 9%, and replace every non-trainer Pokemon in the game with Sunflora. Anyone have some REPUTABLE Emerald Gameshark codes?

Unfortunately Jules... the codes I was using were the ones you listed in the first quote. Giving the aforementioned undesired results. Haven't even bothered attempting to use the other set.
I may have a workaround, but unfortunately until I can figure out what I'm doing in that regard, I may have to put the next update on hold. As for Mac's character profile, I'll have it up tomorrow night. Maybe. EDIT: Workaround totally works! Fuck year! I'll clue you guys in as to how I made it work after I post the update, kay? Thats cool. How effective are emulators anyways? I've never used one. Would you say playing it on an emulator as good as the actual game-boy version?

For most of the GBA Pokemon games... yeah. Only downside is no trading (fixed with the latest version of VBA, where you can link up two of your ROMs as long as they're compatible) and no compatibility with 4th Gen games (which would be cheating in most circumstances anyway). In fact, easy access to codes, and the use of a turbo button (making POWERLEVELAN a breeze) makes emulators even more awesome.
Did experience slowdown during action-heavy sections of Metroid: Zero Mission though. Still playable, but annoying. Last edited by Ecks; 06-17-2010 at 06:39 PM. Reason: I can't spell for shit, leave me alone. |

OH GOD I JUST REMEMBERED. Since we're bringing up emulator specifics, here's a potential problem.
Ecks, look online and see if your version of VBA has issues with using Dive. I tried playing through Ruby on an emulator some time last year (Fairly certain it was on VBA, but maybe not), and I stopped playing once I'd gotten Dive because the screen would go completely white on me. The game still worked, I just couldn't see anything while diving. It was a problem with how the emulator handles transparency effects (Fog effects, usually), and was a well-known issue with SNES emulators for the longest time. The GBA emulator I had was experiencing the same problems, and you should find out sooner rather than later if you'll have the issues. Then again, if you've already beaten R/S/E before on an emulator, I assume you're well-prepared and/or don't have this problem. I simply can't remember if you've stated whether or not you have in the past >.> |

Okay, quick status update: No, haven't worked on the next chapter as of yet, as I am currently playtesting my workaround AND attempting to get far enough through a different save to see if Dive works as intended per Jules' warning.
And I've been pretty busy lately too, so yeah, that's more my fault. Again, sorry guys, just be patient with me for a little bit longer, and I'll have an update put up very soon. |
