I did a lot of posting on here as a teenager, and I was pretty awful. Even after I learned, grew up, and came to be on the right side of a lot of important issues, I was still angry, abrasive, and generally increased the amount of hate in the world, in pretty unacceptable ways. The first two episodes are great, but they're great differently from the rest of the show.

Once you watch about four episodes you'll be hooked.

I always feel a tad awkward telling people who start with the first two episodes and don't get it, "Well, it gets better a few episodes in." Because I'm sure a lot of people don't want to have to wait for things to get awesome; many people have the mentality that if something's good, it should be good from the start.

Not that I really agree with that mentality as a whole; there are a lot of really good shows that take time to hit their stride, and I feel like MLP is ahead of the curve in comparison to a lot of others. But it is something that I keep in my mind when giving recommendations.
