See, and here I was thinking this was something like an epilogue arc. It has a similar feel to the last sort of demi-arc of Yu Yu Hakusho. After the Demon Tournament and all that.

At least, this one chapter did...

I haven't watched Bleach in what must now be like two years. Since Ichigo and people went to the underworld place and I realized "HOLY CRAP ITS JUST LIKE DBZ" and stopped watching. I, have, however, run out of other good anime to watch, so you have like... I dunno... until I care to come back to this thread to sell me on all the reasons Bleach is awesome and I should watch it.

By underworld place do you mean the one where hollows live or the one where shinigami live? If it's the latter you should totally watch up until Rukia's imprisonment comes to an end. Pretty much every expectation that Bleach was going to be not terrible is based on that arc.
