I've updated the drawing that AJ posted for me. I shrank the head to a more proper proportion and put in a little some more shadows for the heck of it. I also found a good brush to use with a mouse, so the outlines look much better now. (By the way, the mouse is evil).
SpokAvriel, I like the dragon's eye. You did a good job with the scaling and shape. I'm not a big fan of the T-rex arms though. |

To Less Than jake: Drawing(in any form) is around 5% talent, and 90% practice. Where the other 5% went? I don't know. A wizard did it.
On second thought: Take that last 5%, split it up and put those parts in the other two sections. (Note: Don't take my word on it. Those statistics aren't proven, plus I know some people who are winging it completely on talent... Lucky them!) QueenQueeko? Damn! That's all I have to say. Others: Nice work.

is it a monk, or a hand to hand fighter?
whatever it is, its really freakin' sweet! my two cents on artistic ability, art, formal or not, is just getting your mind down on paper. I've had to just keep drawing to develop my skills, you pick up a few things along the way, some formal some informal, tricks and shortcuts, but mostly you just become more attuned with yourself and your own ability to translate a though or emotion into something physical. There are those who have a greater knack for it right off the bat, but everyone has the potential, it all a matter of practice! So draw everyday if you enjoy it, why wouldn't you? It doesn't matter if its not to someone elses standards, because art is something intrinsic to you, its a piece of your soul on paper, no one can judge that besides you! |

I've never had formal trianing, but that dosen't mean I haven't worked at it. I'd say that would be the main reason I draw, how I do, however that is. I just practice, and Stare at sketches I like, looking for useful stuff. And paying attention in real life, I've noticed myself doing that now-a-days, freaks people out when they notice me staring at them... XP
And Grandmaster Skweeb, I love it. Especially the way you shaded his face, and the hair... |

About training: All of my training was training on my own, next to no art classes (especially none that teach anime) In 7th to 8th grade, I pretty much drew a picture every day. So yes, practice DOES make perfect. Now I'm finally in some art classes, but all they've really helped was define some things, like how to do backgrounds and fix some proportions. Drawing is nearly 100% effort. heheh. ^^
Anyhoo, off of that tangent. I drew a comic-y picture today. I've been DYING to start a serious comic lately, BUT... I never do. Well this picture is just me expressing some serious comic-y goodness to the theme of Legend of Zelda. ^^ I even put in sound effects like you would see in real mangas. ^^ (yes yes, it's young Link with the master sword)
