Superman can't do everything because he's a boyscout. More moral than anyone else.

His power is effectively limited to less than that of Luthor or, to a lesser extent, Batman because he won't cross lines that they will. He won't kill a mob boss because he knows they did something wrong, and he won't use fear and psychology to extort information from their minions, leaving him powerless in the face of organized crime beyond stopping one, or two, actual heists.

Also, he hasn't been invincible and immortal with unlimited power since the Golden Age. He's very much limited and can be overcome physically as well as intellectually and ethically when the proper force is applied, or the proper technique (magic, for instance).

However, he is rarely written in such a way as to expound upon the limitations that his world view places upon him, or to deal with the stresses that it causes him, so for the most part he's just a shitty character.

I wouldn't say Supes is a shitty character. He gets shitty writers, and he's a shitty character when they write him, but when a writer really *gets* Superman it is fantastic.
