Judge Catherine described Poe as "Kits Moral Ballast." I would not be surprised if those good qualities Kit always saw in Poe were just projected desires she had all along, Cause Poe doesn't seem too moral right now. In fact:

Kit Chasing off Poe's boyfriends, and now aborting her plans to hurt a shopkeeper... Kit seems to hold Poe to these arbitrary moral standards, not the other way around.

Kit looks almost the same age in the flashback and the present day. How much time would you say has elapsed? I just ask because it says "awhile back. Before Jeanne." Or do Devikin have a longer lifespan than humans, so it just doesn't look like a lot of time has gone by?

The flashback took place no more than a few years previous. Though I'm not sure exactly how long (I didn't think it was too important). If Kit looks about the same age then it's safe to assume she's about the same age give or take a year or so. Whatever seems reasonable.
