I doubt he ever beat her in a duel, or should I say legitimately. Strong as he is, he cant really compare to the original captains.

From what I remember, and I admit its been awhile. He never technically obtained the title. Kenpachi was what they used to call the strongest and he took it as his name because, well wouldn't you?

Interesting, so apparently the zanpakuto wasn't always a thing. Kinda explains how both Yoruichi and Kenpachi can get along without one. Well is Kenpachi's case he is essentially without one as he uses his like its just a stick. To be honest I've always just assumed that he just found a sword lying on the ground one day and just took it and decided to use it because he is that awesome.

Damn only a few chapters in and he already slimed her down and gave her huge breasts...

I have to admit his self control is still lightyears better then mine. She wouldn't have remained the same past the first panel showing her.


Also I like the direction Kubo went in with Squad Zero being the founders of something made in SS. Can't wait to see the man who created the concept of a Zanpakuto.

on other news... what makes me sympathetic to this stuff is that Renji and Ichigo seems to be going "This is such bullshit" just as often as the reader...

Also, if she slims down cause her cooking consumes her energy... why don't her breasts slim down too?

That aside I was wondering the same thing too. Breasts are techincally mostly fat. As the milk gland itself is very small. So if her fat = energy then why did her super jugs remain huge and they even became more perky. Well it sounds like she'll be back to being chubby again soon based on what she says at the end.

What I got from this chapter was that Kuby finds Japanese media's incessant over-describing of food as ridiculous as everyone else outside Japan.

It occurs to me that she is using vast amounts of reiryoku to cook and she is using the food to infuse them with vast amounts of reiryoku which probably means she just fed them bits of her own spirit. Is that considered cannibalism?

And Iron Chef, and every show where "talent" eats food then talks about the food. Or, so I'd guess. Probably hates Toriko for different reasons. And at least you can skip ahead to the fights in Toriko, or do they describe food while they fight? I don't read it, so I dunno.

The supplemental material in the manga volumes explain that the rank and file soul reapers actually do use just generic zanpaktos. The seated members are the ones that make use of their own personal ones. In Kenpachi's case they did seem to heavily imply that is his personal one. It has a unique design and its clear he has used it for awhile. Plus he did make that one token effort to talk to it.

Breasts are perkier if they are lacking excess fat. To be fair while still technically fat, and excess fat tending to accumulate there, that found in the breast is abit different. Though most likely he just wanted her to have bigger breasts

Also, my crazy theory about breasts being "spirit energy reserves" totally canon now.

Its a series about food, so yea crap like that happens. Though its not especially out of place. As was said earlier Japanese have a tendency to use more prose than our food critics, plus being a shonen series about food it makes sense. How often do you see someone be overly descriptive about a technique or weapon in manga.
