Looking back at this comic I began to think of something. Am I the only one that was expecting Brian to alter Thief's question:

I'm honored.

Second, you basically used the same arguement that George Lucas used when he edited Star Wars. The "keeping it in-line with my intended theme" arguement. Very funny in this case, and very apt. But my admonishing post before was not condemning you, just a friendly warning. Don't let this evil power you've used, however good the outcome, consume your soul. To keep it in the Star Wars analogy - you've just gained several "Dark Force Points." I'd suggest rescuing another kitten or something.

Unless you're a dog person. Saving a cat when you're a dog person just makes you want to kill more cats. Believe me, I've done that with dogs. and it wasn't pretty.

The Star Wars changes were also, largely, unnecessary and contradicted established characters. 8BT changes continuity for jokes (jokes are necessary for a humor strip) and further emphasize established characters (Thief steals things and screws with Black Mage's mind). Since I know exactly what I'm doing -- a one time joke at the reader's expense -- I don't think I need warnings about doing it too often, but thanks. Sorry if all this seems a bit snippy, but too many of you have turned an incredibly small detail and little joke into this huge controversy/quasi-debate. I'm not mad at anyone, just tired of hearing the same overwrought reactions to something very, very minor.

Sadly, people forget that it's your work, and something they have little power over. By complaining, some are showing their concern that they will lose all joy in 8-Bit, which is just.... stupid. From this point on, anyone who complains is a commy. The REST of us believe in you, Sir Brian. You keep doin' what you've been doin'.

I didn't mean my "friendly" advice in a wholly serious fashion - I'm sure you're aware of the literary pitfalls of endless revisions. I was hoping you'd appreciate my little joke, chuckle, and move on. I didn't look at it from your point of view: 19+ pages of nit-picking is probably insulting and disheartening. Sorry to add to the fire. In closing - Red ninja clothes, what red ninja clothes?
