Finally some time out of Arkansas
Unfortunately I was too preoccupied to take a lot of pictures while I was at Creating Change but it was amazing!
During the first plenary session the stage was stormed by local trans groups in response to the murder of Jessica Hernandez Slightly NSFW https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MnrD_a8mXGA There were a few demonstrations held during the conference telling the LG arm of the LGBTQ to step up their game when it comes to the rest of us. I believe this one hit home the hardest.

While I was at my mom's place, I was going through boxes of old photos and found some that I thought would be amusing.
(These are camera-phone shots of glossy photos, so quality's not the best. I tried to spruce them up in Photoshop a bit.) Babby's first computin'. 1986 maybe? Lifelong interests... 1989 almost certainly.

Making it happen.

PAX time? PAX time.
First, let's talk the venue. It was paaaaaaaaaaaaaacked. You might even say ... PAX'd? With so much to do, so much to explore... It was hard to decide just where to start, really! Of course, it wouldn't be PAX without Cosplay, would it? I have no idea what y'all are supposed to be, but excellent team effort. Are these five people in costumes, or four statues and one dude trying to fit in? Best cosplay of the con. At least from what I saw. I usually try to avoid flooding the picture with backlighting, but it seemed appropriate here. Some of the displays on the show floor were quite impressive. Nintendo had quite a few games available. I didn't get to play any. Two hour wait times. This was a common thread among any game not headed by an indie company, sadly. Shovel Knight's got an upcoming DLC featuring a playable Plague Knight. Controls are cool, but the demo didn't show anything involving the new reagants or other unique UI elements. Tourneys, tourneys, tourneys... It's a little difficult to appreciate just how GIANT this TV is. Try looking at the TVs behind it. At any given time in the Freeplay Lounge about half the WiiU stations were being used for Smash4. It's a wild game. A Giant, Metal, Slow, Reflect, Heavy Smash battle. Surprisingly hype. Here we have the waiting hall for the Settle It In Smash! panel. I showed up 90 minutes early and managed to get in behind only about EIGHTY PEOPLE. Still, I got to fight a dude while waiting. He was good. Just not as good as me. The actual panel itself! I had almost forgotten that air conditioning was a thing. The panelists went over some basics (and I mean BASIC), and a few intermediate techniques, before inviting audience members to fight them. This is Dabuz. Second-place winner of Smash 4 at APEX 2015, playing his main, Rosalina, herself considered a very good character. At a friendly exhibition. Dude was out for BLOOD. Everyone else wisely chose to fight D1 instead, not that D1 is any slouch himself. Managed to get ahold of the fantastic Link Figma! We've all seen pictures but it's hard to do justice to just how incredibly versatile and high-quality it truly is.

Moving means finding the treasures you buried last time you moved.
EDIT: No wire management yet, but things are shaping up nicely in our "office"... In case it's hard to see, that an NES, SNES, N64, GameCube, PS1, PS2, Xbox, and a BetaMax player. There'll also be an Atari 2600 and a VHS player on that side, as well as a DVD player, a Wii, a Wii U, and an Xbox 360 on the other spur of the desk (hooked up to a flatscreen). Two additional roommates means a large console collection (with several overlaps). This house will also sport another Wii, another Wii U, two more 360s, another GC, another N64, two PS3s, and a PS4 in either bedrooms or the living room. Plus at least four PCs. I shall insist on power strips (set to off when not in use), but all the same I'm not looking forward to seeing the electric bill... And yes, apparently none of our childhoods had any SEGA love... EDIT2: Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair.
