Hey guys who are just linking the wiki pages about your hometown and not saying too much of anything about it, how about like, saying something about it? I feel like that would make for a less spammy and more postingly nutritious thread all around.

So yeah, Helsinki. It's the capital of Finland and the biggest city in this country, but rather small in an internatiol scale.
It's good. Considered by some one of the best partying capitals of Europe. But I wouldn't know.

Hey everyone welcome to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orillia,_Ontario
Large public-sector employers include the headquarters for the Ontario Provincial Police, which is located in Orillia. The Huronia Regional Centre, formerly an asylum that later became an institution to house disabled people, was one of the areas largest employers for many decades, until the de-institutionalization movement of the 1980s and 1990's. We have 4 High Schools. Madness. It is also out of date. we've had the hospital expansion finished for over 9 months. In Stephen Leacock's 1912 book Sunshine Sketches of a Little Town, Orillia was used as the basis for the fictional town known as "Mariposa", although Leacock stated that the fictional town could really be any town. The book was based on Leacock's experiences in the town and the city has since the book's release attempted to mimic the fictional location in as many ways as possible. The Stephen Leacock Museum, located in Orillia, is a National Historic Site. William E. Bell's 1989 novel Five Days of the Ghost was also set in Orillia, with many readers recognizing popular local spots, including the Guardian Angels Catholic Church, the Samuel de Champlain statue in Couchiching Park as well as Big Chief Island in the middle of Lake Couchiching. Yeah it's a pretty awesome little town. Now I'm in montreal where nothing worth mentioning ever happened. Edit: Also Stephen Leacock if any of you don't know who he is wiki him too you might like what you find. |

Well, Asheville was declared the "New Freak Capital of America" a few years back It boasts a strong arts and music scene, preserved art deco architecture, the filming site of a number of major Hollywood pictures ("Being There" is a personal favorite of mine, in fact.)
James Taylor penned "Fire and Rain" there, and it was the home of Thomas Wolfe as well as F. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald (Zelda most notably, as she died there in a fire at Highland Hospital, where she was committed after famously going batshit loco). Hell, out of my highschool classmates alone, there's a former relief pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, a member of Blue Man Group's Boston show, and a successful model and television personality in Panama. I've since moved away for a few years, but if Savage Thinking wants to cover anything I missed, that would be just fine.

St. Paul, Minnesota
Home of Charles M. Schulz and a lot of other random crap apparently. We were apparently at one time, or still are, very eco-friendly or something. We take great pride in it I'm sure. Our name also used to suck (the city was once called Pig's Eye god knows how long ago).

Well, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reynoldsburg,_Ohio
My hometown is really coring. All we have is apparently "the birthplace of the tomato" and Little Bow Wow. Not fun. The coolest part is that our marching band went to the London New Year's Day Parade in 2007. I was apart of it! Awesome stuff. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Columbus,_Ohio We are the suburb if here. Much cooler place. We have the most excellent Rib and Jazz fest. That place is great. I also live within day trip lengths to several major amusement parks in the world. The big ones including Six Flags, Ceder Point, and King's Island. We also have a excellent aviation museum and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Reynoldsburg is a pretty boring place, but Ohio sure isn't.
