I'm primarily a metal guitarist, I've been playing for about five or six years now, though the last year or two I've slacked off considerably.

I just purchased a new guitar about a month ago, a brand new BC Rich NJ Mockingbird. I also have an Ibanez RG570 that's seen better days, which will end up getting repaired sooner or later.

This is a rather blurry photo I took of it the day after picking it up.

Metal isn't that impressive playing-wise on a guitar. Fun, but something I'd reserve for my alone-playing time. Besides.. if you are ever planning on making any cash from playing, I'd suggest you learn some older songs. Today's teenagers are lax in cash. Adults, especially the older ones, have the mula.. and they like their oldies..

True. And besides if you learn some love songs the women will like that. ;D And it's as you said...metal is fun to play alone and maby with a few others friends, but for an audience you should think of something else.

Yeah, because there's obviously no interest in metal in any shape or form these days, right? If you find it unimpressive, you're probably listening to radio metal. Listen to Morbid Angel's Blessed are the Sick, and that should give you an idea of what impressive metal guitar sounds like.

Sorry, but if your primary aim is making money or impressing women, you shouldn't bother playing.

Heh, I expected a response along those lines. But I tell you, I'd rather make money doing something I love rather than working in some office all day.

And I'm not saying metal isn't popular. I'm saying the generation that listens to it are lax in the money department, and even more lax in the giving away of said money department.

And most of it sounds stupid on acoustic.. -_-

i play cause I like it...And I listen to bands like, Pantera, At The Gates, Slayer and Sepultura...

Hey.

1. 5 and 1/2 years.
2. I play metal, or heavy metal, and bles, and emo. (I also Sing.)
3. Yes. 4.
4.I have a custom (but not expensieve) jackson dinkey reverse, with two duncun design humbuckers, with a custom designed v-angle fretboard, zak wydle custom low tune strings, and a floyd rose gliding tremlo bridge.(Total cost = 500 dollars or so)
5. I have a line 6 150 watt power head. (Spyder 2) I have the large, double-pedal footboard as well. I have 2 marshal, 4-12 cabnet speakers, each 100 watts, both angled, marshal custom celestion speakers. (Total cost = 2900 dollars)
6. Not to be egotistical, but its a fact that im the best guitarest in our town. (There was a big compitition that I won where I live, and anyone could enter and I won. Also im self taught, which is what I think makes me better than alot of people as well, and give me a unique sound. Anyways I gtg so later.
