In OoT, stalfos were the ones who would block your attacks with their shield and the only way to hit them with your weapons was to wait untill they jump attacked you so their sword was stuck in the ground and them attack them.
The ones you could decapitate and would still walk around were the child versions (forget the name) you can across at night in Hyrule field. And both versions would die instantly when they hit water. |

A stalchild is what you're thinking of, Nathano. I like fighting the big ones ^^.
The floating skulls are called bubbles. Neither they nor stalchilds are related to Stalfos. In my defense of killing lots of Stalfos really quickly, Naine is really PO'd. If she were to lose this one lead, she would never be able to kill the traitorous Gerudo bastard, and that simply isn't possible in her mind. She's on like a 3x adrenaline rush. But anyway, I'll stop rationalizing and post T1 style. Please make sure that I get a response, though.

no not the floating skulls the heads of the stalfos, though I might have it backwards and it was the bodies that kept attacking

In WW, there was a skeleton that you had to disassemble first, then destroy the head. It had a big club, and was the WW Stalfos. You're probably thinking of a Stalchild, which could walk around without a head. They were found in Hyrule Field after dark, and came up from the ground. You only found them as a child.
OoT Stalfos (probably what we're fighting):

first of all, thanos, could you please explain what kinds of enemies we are facing. what i mean is with the stalfos and the poes. these enemies are different in the zelda games. are the enemies in the RP the ones that are in ocarina of time??
if the enemies arent all ocarina of time-based then could you please state what game the enemies we are going to face are from?? also, dont poes need to have light shined on them before they are attackable?? or is that only in wind waker?? |

In OoT, they disappear when you target them, except for their lantern. This continues to institute spinny death upon Link.

actually, they only disappear if you wait too long after targeting. I could target, strike one, then hold up my shield as proof against their spinny attacks until they reappeared.

Yes, you could hit them before they disappeared, but it wasn't a one-hit kill, so you're in trouble still. It's easier simply to pull out your bow/slingshot and shoot them manually. Besides, I was just providing background to what kind of enemies they were like.
