Unless you're Bill Gates on a field trip or the Prime Minister's bodyguard I don't believe you could concealed carry a toothpick in Canada, much less a handgun.
I guess I'll just wing it and pull random books off the internet. I just don't really trust randoms, that's all. |

Pfft, I carry concealed toothpicks all the time. In Calgary I'm known as the Mass Toothpick Murder, theres a nationwide manhunt for me as we speak!
But seriously Azisien the canadian gun registry act is a joke. The Gangs and whatnot don't carry around guns that have been registered all it does it really make it annoying for people to own a gun legitimately. And usually they aren't the ones going crazy. They arrested a man recently that had 5 or 6 unregistered guns and he wasn't even a crook, just a loony who went crazy. I've actually shot a C-7 and its a nice gun, made me wish to join the military. Then i realized I didn't want to go through grueling training just to have tons of red tape just so i could shoot a gun at targets so I didn't

Not bad.

You could always go to a gun shop. Those guys there should have the qualification to maintain their weapons. They really aren't that hard to maintain.

Gun shops often have to deal with criminals, though. Namely, criminals breaking into them and stealing the merchandise, because fuck if a criminal is going to obtain a gun legally. Then it causes a huge mess when the guns get traced back to you, and well, yeah.

I mean you could rob someone else to pay for the gun and not get shot. Does this really happen? |

I mean, if you've got a bunch of gangs in the area, do you honestly think all the 14-year-olds are going to have their parents buy their hardware for them? Or even older gang members? No, it's just easier to break into one in the dead of night and make off with a ton of guns and ammo. Obviously, if a guy is going to just shoot his wife or something, he goes and gets it the normal way, but when you have organized crime, the volume of hardware required to support it precludes getting the stuff legally without undue suspicion.

And how would the gun get traced back to him? I suppose if he's handling the gun, and then it's not cleaned, and the burglar steals it with gloves or something else to not leave his own prints on it, and the gun is found after an incident, then yeah, but that seems not too plausable. I think I'm just misinterpreting what you're trying to get across. |

D'oh! For some reason I read "to" as "into," as in he should get a gun shop. This is purely my own misinterpretation. >.<;;; Edit: It made more sense in that context after reading krogo's post, somehow. Looking back at the rest of the thread, I feel like an idiot.

I don't know any specific cases off the top of my head, but there have been several instances where people have tried to rob a gun store and promptly became dead.

Yeah, robbing a gun shop when the owner is there = bad. Breaking in at 3 am when no ones around is your best bet of getting way with it. I can see that now:
"Put the guns in the bag." "Sure, Pistols, ammo, Store Defence weapon." *BANG* "Hello, 911? Some dumb fuck just tried to rob a gun store so I shot him. Also, the moron forgot to take the safety off his gun and I did not notice that until after I shot him. So are you sending the usual officer over today? Oh, Jeff, no problem, I'll make some coffee, see him in a few. No, no rush its ok." Edit: You can buy generic gun cleaning kits that come with instructions on how to break down and maintain most firearms. Barring that The Shooters Bible is a great resource for beginning gun collectors/shooters. Last edited by Rejected Again; 06-23-2009 at 10:54 PM. |
