-Well, since a shotgun is a close range weapon, I don't see why your suprised the assualt rifle beats a shotgun at medium range (If the shotgun guy runs towards the rifle guy, he can kill him)
-How does a pistol beat a sniper rifle? I'm assuming you mean in sniping, since there is no other reason you should be using the sniper rifle... -I've seen nothing wrong with spawn points, your probably just unlucky... But small maps with 16 people, you should be ready to run the second you come back -Halo has a better storyline then most FPS, usually because they either don't have a storyline, or it's just WW2 is the story line - 8 guns, 2 types of gernades and 4 vehicles (PC version lets you use banshee in multiplayer) seems like enough weapon choices... -What console FPS (Or any game for that matter) isn't 'Look at other persons screen and abuse it'? And being at the right place at the right time is good in every game... And I usually just snipe out people with rocket launchers, or use whatever gun I have with the longest range and shot them, not letting them get close enough for an accurate shot.

-I said a person with an assault rifle cannot beat one with a shotgun until they move to a strangely far apart position (at medium range, shotgun still owns somehow)
-the pistol seems to do just as much, if not more damage than the sniper rifle, sniping or not (the only advantage to the rifle it seems is the 10x scope, but you can hardly hit anything, since most people should be smart enough to keep moving.) -I was playing a large indoor map with a friend (one person!) and at least 1/3 of my spawns, he was less than (I'm approximating here) 3 seconds from me (many times with a rocket launcher ) -I find halo's storyline dull: aliens take over space station, stop them, oh and another race shows up and it all goes to hell and gets blown up (sorry if i spoiled the ending :p). the end. -yes, they're there, but they all seem plain. There's hardly any recoil if any, there's no real disadvantage to using something (excluding the rocket launcher) It's just a big game of rock-paper-scissors with 8 guns and 2 nades. I feel like I'm firing the same gun, be it plasma rifle (but wait! it can overheat! woo.) or assault rifle. (I do admit that the plasma grenades are cool) -Nearly all console FPSs are all abused by looking at the other person's screen (and radar if it's on) when doing multiplayer (that's why I'm a PC head) It just takes alot of fun out of it, there's hardly any suprises (I want something unexpected that makes me shout "HOLY #$^!@" and make my parents wonder wtf is happening). btw, what do you do indoors and in close quarters if it should come to it? Of course there's always room for sniping, but not too often. -come to think of it, that's another thing I miss in this game, a GOOD sniping/camping (for no game is complete with those camping fools) spot. It's too easy to see/estimate where the sniper is, and they're all too easy to get to. -one more thing: one-hit-kills with pistol whip, but no one-hit-kills with most weapons...huh? (you think MC would be able to stand somebody bludgeoning him with a weapon if he can fall a few stories and live)

Actually, you can get a 1 hit KO with any gun if you hit them in the back. Not even MC can survive a head-splitting concussion...or dead leg.

-If you can't kill a guy with a shotgun from medium range (Which I am assuming is about when they first come on your little radar to halfway) then your just bad at the game...
-Sniper is a two hit kill. Pistol takes atleast around 6 shots. If your bad at sniping, it's not the games fault. -Your very unlucky then. Usually I spawn on the other side of the map, or the other side of the bunker (Blood Gultch is usually map I play). Other side of the bunker is far enough to run into it and grab some good guns. -Most other FPS' story. WW2. That's about it... -Plasma weapons hurt the shields faster, and the non shield life less. Human weapons hurt shield less, life more. Rocket is slow, but can kill in two none direct shots, or one direct one. Needler you just need to know how to aim it, then a full clip kills. Plasma grenades for vehicles (Or if you're a really good aim, then people), frags for people. I see a difference in the weapons. -Every console game is abuse and look at the screen of other people... You can either buy it for the PC, or get XBox live... -Sniping spots are usually easy to find (Though sometimes you can just stand in some shadows and go unnoticed for a while), but if they are far from you, it's hard to hit them unless you also have a sniper -From the front, a pistol whip isn't a 1 hit kill. Any gun is a one hit kill from the back. Needler is best hitting weapon by the way.

We all have our opinions. I like the weapons, I like the story, I love multiplayer gameplay, I like that the Covenant employ tactics as opposed to the aliens in Half-Life for example, where you simply alert them of your presence and hide behind a corner until they come after you.
I don't know about you guys, but I can usually take out an elite with one round from the sniper rifle, and I've been playing on Heroic. Also, from my experience, I find that scattered fire from the assault rifle works best when there are a lot of grunts and jackals around, because the assualt rifle easily takes out the grunts and then you can just bash the jackals over the head with a melee attack. Have a plasma rifle or charged plasma pistol ready and you can easily take down the elites (or stick a grenade to them and run). The when the flood come along, grenades and shotgun. I guess the point of all this is that people development their own stratgies as to what works best, so the weapons are good for some and suck for others. I have only two complaints about the game, the first being the lack of map variation. The locations were cool, but not when they were repeated over and over. I know its more realistic that structures would be similar but I just got tired of the same hallways and the same rooms and the same bridges. My other complaint is the length of the game...its a little short, but I supposed substance makes up for that. To conclude this rant, Halo is one of my favorites games, and I'll be patiently awating the release of the sequel. Last edited by VideoDrone; 01-05-2004 at 08:26 PM. |

Whenever I play at Blood Gulth I just hide in the shadows by the other teams base with a pistol and rack up about 10 kills before they either notice me or I get bored. I'm known as the master of three-shot kills. The game itself is too short, but the story is very good for a FPS. The levels are good, but too linear and predictable, especially assult on the control room/two betrayals. Other than that, happy fragging

You know what's best about Spawn killers? Having them get shot down by their own team, because they got in the way of the others. That's the best thing ever.

Too much awesome for such a small space. Oh well. You can still punch your mother...if you want... Hey, you should see the other guys I play with that use snipers from everywhere. I'm the only one not using a 10x zoom. Besides, it's not like I stay there for the whole game, that would be too easy. Wait...maybe that's why they always choose CTF. Either that or they know they'll lose to me anyway.
