I still have trouble seeing House as anybody but House.

Pure joy

Certainly that is a far more common sentiment than mine, which was for two episodes "that guy seems kinda familiar" and after a Wikipedia check "holy crap it's Hugh Laurie from Blackadder."
Aaaaanyway. Who said everone has to be young? What about Ian McKellen as Red Mage? If nothing else the guy has got to have some wizard typecasting-related frustration to get rid of. |

Pitch black and covered in soot.

Jason Schwartzman could work as Red Mage. Also I feel that David Bowie would need to be in it in some shape or form.

I always thought David Cross might make a good Black Mage. He does a really good impersonation of Guy Who Is, Like, This Close to Stabbing Your Eyes Out.
Also, Tom Baker as Sarda. I feel he has it in him to play a bitter, petty, vicious, callous omnipotent bastard.

Your probably right, but he would work as either. And sarda is an omnipotent jackass, not a bitter bastard.

I think in this case you could argue that those two categories overlap.

Are you implying that House is anything OTHER than an Omnipotent Jackass?

Steve Buscemi for BM for me. I've always thought of BM as being ratty and emaciated. Buscemi also does a good psycho when it comes down to it.
If we can time warp, a Wall Street Michael Douglas for Thief would be brilliant. For Red Mage, Hugh Laurie in his old goofy Blackadder incarnation I agree with. Flashes of House breaking through when his plans work too could work. He's his current age though, RM being considerably older than the others visibly are(seeing as Buscemi's face is hidden in the darkness), makes him funnier and sadder. David Tennant is also a good idea. Princess Sara, Maggie Gyllenhall, she can do sexy, manipulative, fake innocent and cynical very well. Black Belt, a young Jackie Chan, he's pretty much the master at playing a buffoon who can kill you with his little toe. Fighter and WM I have no idea for. Fighter needs to be good looking in a tall muscular way and able to oscillate between childlike and innocent to intimidating enough to cow Thief and RM. WM needs to be pretty and able to do a convincing intelligent but naive woman getting more and more jaded.

I think it would be [I]hilarious[I] if any of the characters were played by the late John Wayne.
And BM could be played by that guy from Tommy Boy.

David Spade or Chris Farley? I don't think either would work very well... Maybe David Spade, but not Farley. Since we're time-warping, I think John Belushi would be an excellent King Steve. I always imagine KS talking like Bluto in Animal House. Johnny Dep would be a kick ass RedMage, I think...or maybe Bikke, but maybe that's just me thinking of him as a Pirate. Will Ferrel should be Elite Royal Guard Hank, with John C. Riley as Messenger. Eddie Izzard I think would make a good BM, because he's a transvestite and BM supposedly has a girlish figure. See Black Magia. But I guess that pertains more to RM. Also, Izzard's fucking hilarious.
