The revolution will be memed!

This does seem to clash with some other music threads, but I'm gonna post anyway cause I kind of like these threads. Besides, not much I can do about this thread anyway, besides post.
Well I can listen to most music. But more easily my taste in music can be displayed by the bands I listen to: The Clash AC/DC The Beatles The Who Eppu Normaali (A finnish band that plays pop/rock/punk. Not your most typical crappy modern day pop band, which is propably because these guys started back in the 70's) Reel Big Fish (Only recently discovered them, and couldn't find there records anywhere in Finland) Metallica Pantera At The Gates Testament Sepultura Iron Maiden Black Sabbath Chaos Infinitum (A finnish band. A band of my friends actually. They are good though.)

right now i'm really into a funk-metal band called Nuclear Rabbit. the bassplayer has a fucking nine string bass, and he is getting a eleven string bass made. they are awsome. |

i have a feeling ill get an empty silence if i ask anyone if they like rap, but hey i might as well give it a try. does anyone else here like rap?? i hate it when the rappers make stupid lyrics like "yo,yo,yo,yo" or like snoop dogg "2+2=4, i look at my buds when i walk out the door" stuff like that is just plain stupid. i mostly like rap with either a good beat or a song with amazing lyrics(the artist Big L is a good example, especially his freestyles) i was wondering why so many people here dont like rap. i atleast think its quite good. though, i mostly hate the songs on the radio. you have to listen to the more underground artists. i admit some rap songs on the radio have some of the most HORRIBLE lyrics ever! some good rappers that i would reccomend is Tupac Shakur, Notorious BIG(Biggie Smalls),wu-tang clan, flipmode squad, talib kweli, Big L, Ceelo, Cypress Hill, Kool G Rap, Nas, Pharoahe Monch. i mostly like rap songs that i can dance to. i dont really like songs that are kinda like blues except "rap style".
some good rap songs i would reccomend: talib kweli-"this means you" Talib Kweli-"move something" Talib Kweli-"the blast" (awesome dance song!) Talib Kweli-"eternalists" Talib Kweli-"down for the count" Kool G Rap-"planet of the apes" Kool G Rap-"my life" Pharoahe Monch-"no mercy" Pharoahe Monch-"livin it up" Pharoahe Monch-"oh no" Notorious BIG-"juicy" (absolutely reccomended!) Nas-"purple" Common-"still" (this song is excellent for when trying to relax. it is nice and slow and relaxing. the lyrics are kinda repetitive, but the beat is why this song is so good. it doesnt really represent what rap is all about, but it still is REALLY good.) listen to atleast one of the talib kweli songs or the Notorious BIG song. they are absolute reccomendations. they are really good rap songs. lately, ive just started seriously listening to more rock, so im pretty much listening to ACDC and a little Green Day. i kinda like new rock because the guitar beat is really more emphasized which i think is better. i especially like the songs by Green Day "american idiot" and "brain stew". some ACDC songs i like is "back in black". this one is quite good! i am also wondering if anyone else here is indian?? yah, i like to listen to hindi music. its really good. the drums is really emphasized in classic songs and new songs too. its kinda hard to explain what the songs sound like. i really reccomend listening to some hindi songs. you wont understand the words, but hey it doesnt matter. i dont understand it either. though, im taking lessons on learning hindi, so soon ill be able to understand it i hope. also, i think ill try out some alternative and ska music. see if i like it. hopefully i will, so death and Living Bobbeh will be able to talk more about their music and not feel like theyre alone.. also, is it just me or do most people like rock music in this thread?? |

One of my favorite artists of any kind of all time is the Queen of Rockabilly herself, Wanda Jackson. She's undeservingly obscure -- I would never have heard of her except for a tiny little blurb in a long-ago Rolling Stone article that mentioned this amazing, ferocious vocalist who was called the female Elvis in her heyday. She actually started her career as more of a country/gospel gal -- but the King himself told her she should give rock a try because she was the only woman who really had the voice for it. And did she ever. Her fierce wildcat voice and sexy "bad girl" attitude were just too far ahead of her time, though -- shoot, for people used to sweety-pie girl group singers, Miz Jackson might even have sounded scary. "Fujiyama Mama", "Rip It Up", and her covers of "Long Tall Sally" and "Hard Headed Woman" are some of my favorite red-hot-crazy numbers of hers, but she could do straight-up blues too, and "Kansas City" and "You Don't Know Baby" prove it. The Queen of Rockabilly collection is super-awesome, nobody I've ever played it for has failed to go nutty for it. Give it a shot if you can!
