It's amazing how this is said to protect 'life', yet it's really to 'protect responsibility'.

And, Mirai_Gen: Oh, that gets me too. It just didn't seem to be in the scope of this discussion. Though if we'rei ncorperating it, then again, I can use my mom as an example. The moment the doctor told her she was pregnant, she dropped her cigarettes in the trash. Dad kept smoking but never in the house, and never around her. She put my basic needs above her own wants. At the weekly Magic game I go to, there's a girl that got knocked up. She was sitting around talking about how she's finally stopped drinking for the durration, and she's "Trying" to give up cigarettes. I started to say something, but it wouldn't change anything, other than just make things tense for the rest of the night. It's getting harder to keep my mouth shut, though, as I look around my town and see kids my age (24, for the record) pumping out kids. They're too self-centered to put the kids needs completely above their own WANTS, and I think that's what this whole thing boils down to: Parents who just can't be bothered to do their jobs, because they can't put their children's needs completely above their own wants. I've done a reseach paper on the topic of the topic of this crusade agaisnt video games, and I honestly had to put the research material down and walk away several times. Not because I was bored, or my eyes were crossing from the tiny print, but because I was getting too angry to focus on my work properly. In one article, parents were being shown clips from Grand Theft Auto, and saying to the reporters "This is the first time I've seen this shocking and despicable stuff, and it shocks me!" Well, it shocked me too. The concept of a parent not knowing the content of a game they bought their own children just amazes me. If they can't be bothered to put in the time with what their kid is doing, then they shouldn't have the kid, plain and simple.
