I didn't say superior... just more capable of having a conversation without resorting to flame or insults, which is the precise reason that we can't talk about Bush or religion.

And do be fair, Meister wasn't immature, just misunderstanding. I was proposing a preliminary idea... and he shot it down based on the fact that the mods hadn't gotten together to has out the rules for something he just heard about. I've learned to stop trying to act like I'm equal with other people on the internet... there is no equality, only status.

You're contradicting yourself now.

And the only reason why religion is banned from discussion, is because we have people with different thoughts about religion. That's going to clash. Although it would lead to flaming, it isn't banned because of flaming. At least, that's why I think it's banned...

Also, people shooting down this idea, because of it's logical consequences (ie. clique forming, superiority complexes. etc) are now being called immature? Why?
I don't call that immature. They were thinking about the idea, proving even more they're capable of rational talking.

Of course I am, the whole issue is superiority. The people with the power are superior. You think you're superior to me, because you don't understand where I was going with this thread. I am not contradicting myself, because you keep misinterpreting the terms. "Superior" people wouldn't be allowed in... "Mature" people would be. By your logic, as far as I can tell, there should be no age restrictions on drinking, driving, smoking, and voting. We have those agre resrictions because it is generally unsafe to allow people below a certain age do certain things. We have older people showing them how to do it, in order that when the time comes, they can perform these dangerous tasks properly and safely, which is what I was trying to help with here.

That's what you think would happen if the more mature, senior posters could talk to eachother without the younger flaming posters interrupting? That's a very low opinion of the mature, senior posters. I rather think the opposite would happen: it would be a place for people to understand and appreciate the ideas of others without resorting to name-calling, personal attacks, and so forth (which I am so far unable to avoid being the brunt of when I try to talk about important issues.)

Um, I've had the exact same idea a few months or more ago. I proposed it to the others. Then, five minutes later, I realized what counterarguments there were and how good they were and proposed something else to the others, namely to pay my crazy-ass ideas no mind.

We're trying our best to make the entire forum like that. Especially Discussion, which is pretty much the place for mature members here. We can even ban people from that forum alone - you don't discuss properly, you're out. (Considering certain knowledge I have, that's very ironic.)

That and I don't think we even have younger, flaming posters, not to mention that I've seen some youngsters here out-mature some twentysomethings by a far margin numerous times.

The younger flaming posters was cited as the reason why religion was banned, and trust me, I've seem some 15 year olds who are far more mature than the 25 year olds in many forums. I didn't mean OLDER posters, but posters, possibly with high post counts, who had proven themselves properly responsible enough.

For the third time, it was a bad idea, and I've dropped it. Someone, for the love of Gord, please close this thread.
