Meh. I'm going to be lukewarm about this until I've seen it. Shyamalan's stuff, has been consistently been going downhill, but mostly because he's been trying to go in some sort of weird artistic direction. If he stuck w/ stuff like Unbreakable, he'd be gold.

Still, regardless of who directs this movie, I suspect that it won't be anything like the cartoon. If they use kids, the acting quality could take a hit. If they use adults, the endearing quality of the characters could be lost. And I'm not sure if the bending & other elements of Avatar could be translated well into a non-animated form.

CG is good some of the time, but it still has its limitations.

I think bringing the age up and making it a serious movie would make it watchable, automatically marketting it to the 6-11 age group will make it teh suck.

Aerozord would dive into a lake to save a drowning girl from a sinking car, without even stopping to think about how dangerous it was. only way this could not suck is if it takes place out of the current story line. I wouldn't mind a live-action of Sozan's initial attack. This would also remove the need for 12 year old martial artists. To be honest I am more worried about there being a lack of violance. If your gonna screw with a licence why not atleast allow some cool moments, like a water bender shoving an ice spike into someone's chest.

But the ultimate killer is if they ignore the martial arts all together. Thats what made Avatar great.

I fear for the future, if it's bad, but spawns a trilogy or worse off of pure hype sales? I shudder...

Though it would be nice if it was good, pipe dream, ya know?
