There are better places to cut down on prostitution than amsterdam. I mean, at least there it's regulated. If you want to complain about prostitution, go to Africa, and stop the teenagers from doing it and spreading AIDS. It's not a great thing to do, but its the lesser of two evils. The other being that it's illegal, and therefore not regulated, letting anybody do it, and spreading stds.

I'm just wondering when we'll start to put in a few prostitution legalization and regulations around here (US).

But, yeah, more power to the prostitutes. I'm just debating on clicking the link and seeing an image of the statue's final product, or amusing myself with interesting mental imagery.

Prostitution in Canada is fucked. It's not illegal, but any method of conducting it, in almost any way, is illegal.

My thoughts on the matter are that there are probably statues out there for far worse occupations, so why should we care?

I mean, hell, it's AMSTERDAM. I think what they do over there stopped being outrageous after the last 4 crimes against decency.

Well, in the US, parts of Nevada and all of Rhode Island permit sex for money (Nevada, of course, is more liberal).

Also, they don't have a picture of the statue with the news story.

There's really not much point in trying to ban prostitution outright. As long as people need money and have orifices, prostitution will be around--it might as well be regulated.

I have a feeling that Rayne and Noel could be headed for the Netherlands.

While that would make a great series, the writer just spent his christmas break in the carribean (check the news posts) and thats what hes using to fuel this series.

Also, they don't have a picture of the statue with the news story.

I don't think it's built yet, the news story said it hadnt decided on that or where it would go.

The idea for such statues existed well before any kind of controversy about GTA. In fact, either in Rotterdam or The Hague, they already have a statue honouring the prostitutes in that city.

Also, there are plans to reduce the number of prostitutes in the Red Light District. Our government's straight laced, morals should rule our lives, Christian* party decided that there were too many brothels and prostitutes in Amsterdam. Of course, they're all doing it under the guise of stopping illegal women trade. But we all know it's because of that political party's strong sense of morality.
