There's a reason that football players wear pads. It's because if they didn't, they'd have to stop the game every other play to take the remains of the players off the field. Go on. Go up to a line man and call him a pussy. See how far that gets you.

Well I do enjoy Rugby, and Canadian Football (THAT'S a man's sport, not your american crap,) there is really only one sport that makes me shiver with anticipation.

Hockey.

Ice Hockey.

Especially Calgary Flames Ice Hockey games at the Saddledome.

Im a rowing man. People can say it's a pussy sport all they want, and that contact sports or way more intense, but let me tell you, there is nothing more intense than a two kilometre race. Nothing.

Yeah, I went rowing for the first time like a few months ago, and it was pretty hard having to push through the water current, when I thought it would be a lot easier. I wasn't even going fast either, so yeah, an actual race must be really hard especially for that kind of distance.

Well, the distance isn't the thing. Actually, 2k is really only about 7-8 minutes at race pace (for junior lightweights, at least) The real pain is how hard you pull, how fast you're doing it, etc. For rowing races you're pushing with everything you've got, and when you finish it, knowing that you're done is the best feeling in the world. Actually, I just competed in an "ergatta" today (competition using rowing machines, or ergometers) with several different schools. Rowing machines are like rowing, except much more painful, and you don't go anywhere. I was on a machine for 7 minutes and 20 seconds, and I almost vomited, and needed to lie down for over 5 minutes, before I was able to get up for a drink of water. I'm still completly drained because of it.

Cricket? Nobody understands cricket. You gotta know what a crumpet is to understand cricket.

Okay, I'm very much not a sports fan, so I'll just leave this thread now. (Although I do sort of enjoy most forms of combat. Boxing and Tae Kwon Do and the like are cool.)

Indeed, Marching Band is a sport.

It involves many activities, including, but not limited to:
  • Running
  • Forcing large amounts of air into a tube while running
  • Dodging metal poles being swung around at face level while forcing large amounts of air into a tube while running
  • Dodging metal poles being swung around at face level while forcing large amounts of air into a tube while running in step with others
  • Dodging metal poles being swung around at face level while forcing large amounts of air into a tube that is attached to your lips by metal that can, and will, freeze itself to your skin while running in step with others
  • Yelling at people who can't dodge metal poles being swung around at face level whlie forcing large amounts of air into a tube that is attached to your lips by metal, that can, and will freeze itself to your skin while running in step with others.

Also, proper marching technique while doing all of this (roll step, left foot on odd beats, right foot on even beats, not letting the heel hit the ground while marching backwards or crabstepping, and keeping your legs' orientation separate from your torso's orientation, etc.).

It's fun stuff!
