Oh, to introduce the concept of the Avvy RPs to people who haven't been in one before, its essentially everyone playing characters based off their avatars and forum personas.
For example, Fenris is a hobo and Pyros is an insane fire god cat angel... thing. It's not a very serious RP. We've fought dangers of various endangerment, from saving Christmas when Santa got kidnapped to stopping the world getting flooded when Poseidon got... uh... kidnapped. Also four other apocalypses involving various god-like beings... so, yeah, like I said, we're a little apocalypsed out.

Last time I tried I passed out cause of being short on time, but I might want to try again.
Just wondering. Characters are based on a general image or the most recent avatar? |

I like the idea of a Noir Avvy, but I kind of like that Chrono Avvy better since it, well, sounds pretty damn cool. I mean c'mon, like I'd say no TIME TRAVEL and a chance to make another future version of my character. Cuz that never gets old. You know what would be cool? Is if we could somehow smoosh the Noir Avvy and the Chrono Avvy together into some sort of Temporal Mystery Story Avvy.

From what I've learned (after only partaking in Rhiya's Avvy Miniquests) your NPF Avatar is what you make of it. If it is your first Avatar quest than you create your Avatar based on what you think your forum persona would look like if manifested into a physical being. Once this initial character is created, you just keep reusing it for every new Avvy RP.
As for Avvy 7 related stuff, I think the Chrono Avvy or zombie apocalypse ideas would be pretty sweet. I just hope I'll be able to keep up once this get's rolling since I've noticed the posts just fly out like crazy in the previous Avatars.

Toasty has left the building

Yeah, Arcanum has the right idea on what your avvy. For example, in the Christmas storyline, Toastburner was just the Scar Kitty. However, by the time Avvy 2 rolled around, I had added my seemingly random desire to change my avatar into my character, thus creating my respawning ability...with unintended consequences (read: team-killing).
Assuming I manage to check the thread before it gets to page 6 on the second chapter on the first day...I must admit I find the zombie idea intriguing... if only for the inevitable nervous breakdown that I would have to go through as I respawned, only to have to fight my zombified last body...along with the equally inevitable wise-cracks about killing myself.

Okay, let's see if I can get something halfway decent written up here.
NPF ZOMBIEPOCALYPSE An Overview Most of us knew it was coming. Hell, most of us had already made rather extensive plans for it. You know who you are. So really, it shouldn't have been such a surprise when the day finally came. There wasn't a sudden attack, there wasn't a huge army of shambling undead bursting through the front gates demanding brains. Rather disappointing, really. To the contrary, the zombies originally started showing up one at a time. Nobody thought much of it: Honestly, most people figured they just wandered in from Gaia or some similarly dark corner of the internets. We used them as target practice but never really bothered to investigate where they came from. Now they're everywhere. One or two zombies aren't much of a problem: Hell, we've beaten everything from robot hobos to possessed Gods to Avatars of Chaos over the span of five years. A zombie is nothing. But seven ka-jillion zombies... Yeah that's another story. To be quite honest, things don't look good. Habitable sections of the city have shrunken significantly. We've got some barricades up, but there's no telling how long they'll last. The power has gone off in several sectors of the city, too. At this point, no one knows if this was done intentionally by the admin to quarantine off certain spots, or if the zombies somehow did it. I dunno, maybe they accidentally shambled into a power station or something. Heheheheh. Actually that's a pretty funny mental image. Zap. Heeee. But I digress. The facts are grim, ladies and gentlemen. The undead are closing in. They outnumber us. We have no idea where they are coming from or why. We've lost contact with the outside world, and we're slowly losing control of the city itself. As far as we can tell, this isn't a worldwide problem. The zombiepocalypse seems to be confined to an area around the NPF. Too bad most exits are blocked by the undead. Something has to be done before we all end up as zombie food. NPF ADVENTURE TEAM: ASSEMBLE!!! Our goals are three-fold: 1) Locate the source of the zombies. Isolate or destroy the spot, if possible. 2) Destroy the zombies that have already entered the city, preferably BEFORE they ruin anything important or kill us all. 3) Avoid getting... y'know... eaten. As far as the zombies go, they'll vary in deadliness. Some will only take away your powers/immortality/whatever when they bite you (leaving you relatively defenseless and easy to rip apart and eat) and others will poison or kill you if they bite you. I dunno if I'd include the threat of turning into a zombie into the game or not.

Swallow and Roll Out!

MM, not to discourage you or anything, but I kind of agree with Arhra here when it comes down to an apocalyptic storyline. I'm all armageddonned out (as shown by my sporadic interest in previous few games).
Though the zombiepocalypse does sound tempting... EDIT: also: special kudos to those that are still showing steady immaturity in the polls. You guys are awesome.

NPF AVATARS 7: NOTHING OF IMPORTANCE
All players write their posts alone- any interactions during the day are written into the other people's posts as well, and the game is nothing but an ordinary day. i.e.: Mauve gets up, has a big long post about her day that involves going to the grocery store to buy milk, mentions that she sees Loyal running out of a bank. Loyal who might post next would then incorporate that into his story as well. Newb might mention seeing both of them in his magical cloudcar as he flies overhead to pick up his carebear friends. POS might spend the entire day in his office, writing memos and not include anyone else. |
