i really dig the windows there, specially the colors. Sure it could use more work, but it looks fine for what it is now!
Although i'll tell you this, the door seems unpractical right now |

Yeah pretty much. I think it might be more something to do with the lighting/materials settings; the texture is this really dramatic-looking blue brushed aluminum thing but the render washed it right out. I have the light settings on super-soft cause I didn't want really hard shadows all over the place so maybe that's what's making the coloring screwy.

I know at least 5 people (in real life) who are 28+, have jobs, and take classes in college. You don't need to be in school.
Also, I love it. It looks like a lot of thought and detail went into it, and it shows! Now get it inside a modern art museum so it can replace the "OOF".

For such a short car, it seems one pair of doors per car would have suited just fine. If it's a metro-train, multiplying the size of the doors by 1.5.
But, y'know, it's your goddamn train. You decide the way it looks. (unless it's referenced on something, of course.) Besides, it's not like it's going to be built in real life anyway. 'Cause if that were the case, the wheels on one car are placed pretty impractical. The wheels on the middle car aren't going to provide much stability, considering there's free-floating corridors between cars one, two and three. (even if they are really short) Here's an example of a train that's built very much alike yours. The Stadler GTW Mind you, that train has Jacobs bogies and not a bogie set-like your train. ... if you didn't know by now, I like trains. Mostly Dutch trains, but I know a fair bit about trains in general too. But, like I said, the train looks good, and you decide what it looks like! Ain't nobody's business telling you it's wrong, per sé. Last edited by Melfice; 05-27-2009 at 01:28 PM. |

i dunno if it's just the lights or perspective. But if i got this right, the Door is inside the frame, so it either slides inside the frame, or inside the cart. Not outside (like a bus door)If it slides inside the frame, then it's too close to the windows. If it slides inside the cart, then it's too close to the benches there, it wouldn't open all the way.

Although looking at it now the rounding at the top would make that kinda fiddly to do, you'd have to have the joint/hinge/linkage/whatever at the bottom or somewhere.

Yeah, if this thing is 27 meters and some change in total length, two pairs of doors makes more than sense. If it were shorter, it wouldn't hold as many people anyway to warrant the loss of seating. Also, three bogies total on that one in the reference pic? Weird train/tram/thingie is weird. Last edited by Melfice; 05-27-2009 at 01:53 PM. |
