I don't only listen to one type of music. Besides, what is Minus the Bear, They Might Be Giants, and Modest Mouse?

First off, Ska isnt music imho. It takes no talent to bash on the guitar like they do and to scream. Sure, they lyrics are original, but they are all the same. "Nobody likes me. I want to die. Im going to commit suicide." etc. Ska is dumb. TMBG (Lighthouse baby!! Particle Man anyone?) is more alternative than anything.

[edit] Btw, checkout Powerman 5000 - Megatronic (if you can find it... off the same CD as Bombshell which never got released. Its a great track)

so...ska isnt music because ska musictians have no talent and just scream alot about dieing. well, even if we PRETEND that thats true, how can you then defend heavy metal?

what does it take, 3 chords to play heavy metal? then just shove the microphone into your mouth and scream at the top of your lungs. yeah, thats so much better than what you accuse ska of being.

Your thinking of death metal. Big difference bud. By heavy metal I mean Metallica (from the early days, not the new stuff), Static-X, Dream Theatre, Korn, etc. Death Metal is Dark Tranquillity, Opeth, etc. Now, Dream Theatre and Metallica are, in mine and thousands of peoples opinions, excellent musicians. This means all forms, lyrics, beat, chords, etc.

Nono, Johnny. The one with the three chords was punk. Metal is the one with the hair and leather.

Sidenote: It's a joke.

Seriously, let's not flame music styles here, else the mods' wrath shall descend upon the thread.

And now, I have to choose "other" here, because... well, I listen to rock, punk, triphop, folk, blues, some classical, some reggae, and the majority of my music collection doesn't fall under any heading I can think of right now (Nick Cave, anyone? Or Tom Waits? Or Current 93?). So, other.

i realize that these are peoples opinions, and cant be changed. i was just upset that Neverwhere had ska pegged as something that its not.

oh, and i know that no one likes ska; next to mariachi death metal, its probably the least listened to genre. but thats apart of its appeal to me, i know that im apart of a small, close knit community of fans.

Um...Where is Alternative Rock? Incubus, everclear, (and sublime, probably...Lovin'....Is What I got. Remember that.) and we should be able to vote for more than one style. Like...5. Lets see... Rock, classic rock, alternative rock, techno (Fatboy Slim-Love Island! Off of the Rollcage soundtrack, I bought the ps game just for that song), classical (Dvorak, Bartok, Vivaldi)... Yeah. We should be able to vote for 5 styles. Or, to make it easyer, we could vote on what we hate the most, as long as we behaved ourselves, much unlike this: "Do country music listeners go to Hell if they don't repent after every song?"
