I just realized the name of this game is a play on the word racketeer

they actually mention that in the game. I like their little fourth wall breaking

"Demo will be ending soon so you should save"
"..whats a demo?"
"Focus we got alot of things to go over"

or how like 50% of the end demo scene is a huge "dont pirate this" message. I love little things like that

For those of you playing, avoid books and candy. Only person that buys it is this little girl and she is a real cheapskate. I can normally get 32% profit but with her I rarely get over 15%

Books aren't bad to put in vending machines I've found. They generally have high prices and wide availability.

Also the little girl is annoying at the start but she's fine once you get her customer rank up. Oh yeah that's important try to make your customer's happy, avoid haggling, keep that Just Bonus going. Haggle only on the big stuff to maximise profit. Sell low (like 106-112%) to make the customer's happy, it helps in the long run as the short term loss of profit is countered by the speed with which you unlock new abilities.

Also Euria sucks.

I dont know if I can, I just barely made first weeks payment, down to about 800 in cash and 1000 in items. But how do you check out customer rank? Or is it one of those invisible stats?

Invisible as far as I can tell, but you get a heart at the end of their sentences when you raise it to show you if you have raised it, it seems to determine how much cash they're willing to spend (though not how good they are at haggling so they'll still favour certain percentages but they'll go for more expensive stuff).

Also big tip for getting past the first two payments if you want it harvest lizards on a stick from those rock throwing goblin things, they can be used in item fusion (which is unlocked by increasing your merchant level should be visible on the merchant level scale if you haven't got it already) with a cheap necklace for a huge (~14 000 pix) profit. The rank 1 sword recipe is relatively easy to do and profitable as well.

And finally if you're really stuck in this game and getting frustrated, don't sweat a gameover it transitions into a new game plus, where you keep everything but your money and what stuff you've unlocked. Your levels and inventory, your adventurers' levels and inventory (though you'll have to unlock them all again) and the customer ranks all stay the same.Plus the gameover screen's pretty funny so you should try and see it at least once.

Welp, I'll try the demo out, but there's no way in hell I can afford the full game right now.

Based on what I've seen, though, this is a nice surprise.

Holy shit they link to Homestuck's music. Bonus points.

BTW the developers of this have made a bunch of other games which I think were in the same setting too, the latest of which is Territoire, which looks to be sort of like Civilisation. You can find that here. Hopefully CF will localise this is Recettear does well.
