Twilight Princess is fun but Zelda games are somewhat enjoyable by default now. It's got a late-game plot twist that's really goddamn stupid and probably contractual for the Zelda games at this point, but I'd recommend a rental at least.

Also, Super Paper Mario. It's a Super Mario platformer as an RPG. I mean your score is actually your EXP, for crying out loud.

RPG's lol. There's some good platformers, though. All the Marios, Kirby, Donkey Kong, Wario, I hear Sonic Colors is pretty good, A Boy and his Blob, that Lost in Shadow Tower thing is out in some places... If you're really into the genre, you could dig into some more "questionable" stuff like Mushroom Men or de Blob or Dewey's Adventure and probably find something you like or at least enjoy a reasonable amount.

Also Klonoa.

Also Flip's Twisted World. It's like a Galaxy rip-off. Is that out? I don't know how it is. Maybe you should look into it.

Mario Galaxy 1 and 2, Klonoa, Sonic Colors, Mad World, and Nights into dreams are some pretty decent Wii titles to check out. Also Puru Puru Park is pretty fun too.

Mad World is like a not-as-good God Hand with Sin City trappings. Provided you can endure it being a bit repetitive, check it out. No More Heroes 1 & 2 are both enjoyable games, though the second has an ending that can go fuck itself, however I'm not sure if they fall into the category of what you might like.

If you can find Wario Ware Smooth Moves, you should give it a try. If you played Mario Party with your family, this is something like that, up to 12 people can participate in this waggletastic game that's about completing micro games (i.e. extremely short and fast). The multiplayer unlocks after completing the main mode though, don't expect to play it as soon as you get it.

If you want party games, you can get the Rayman Raving Rabids games, but maybe you should try them first, Boom Blox is fun too.

If you like "roguelike" games, you should try FF: Chocobo's Dungeon.

Tatsunoko VS Capcom is fun if you like games of the VS series (Capcom VS anything, Marvel VS anything, etc)

Super Paper Mario is fun, it's a platformer with some RPG elements (experience, HP, items, etc)

Super Mario Galaxy is great fun too.

Metroid Prime Trilogy because it has the 3 Prime games with Wii controls

About Gamecube games, Paper Mario the Thousand Year Door is a great RPG

Tales of Symphonia is a RPG with Smash Bros-like battles

Baten Kaitos Origins is a fun RPG too, it uses cards instead of actual commands in battle, look it up on youtube

Eternal Darkness is a cool game with some nice "effects"

F-Zero GX is a fast racer with graphics that look good even on an HD TV, you should try it first.

It's hard to find it, but if you get your hands on an Ikaruga disc, keep it, it's a shooter with a great "polarity" gameplay, look it up on youtube.

About the Virtual Console, get Mega Man 9 and 10.

I don't know a lot about the other VC or wiiware games, sorry

I guess I'll just second some recommendations.

Platformers: Mario Galaxy (either or both), Donkey Kong, and Kirby for eye and ear-candy.

Adventure/RPG: Okami, definitely. Muramasa and Fragile have great stories.

Stuff you didn't ask for: Get either Boom Blox. You won't regret it.

I'm not sure how you feel about survival horror games or the Fatal Frame series, but if you aren't opposed, Fatal Frame 4 is, as of how far I'm in right now, a pretty fantastic survival horror experience.
