In fact... there's probably enough Nuklear-affiliated (non-forum of course) characters to build such a roster.

I've been toying with the idea of shifting the art-style of the comic to something less anime and more western, because I think the tone I want The Dreadful to have doesn't mesh up as well as it could with the art as it is now. However, I'm not sure about this.

For one thing, it's a style I'm not all that familiar with. For another, I'm not sure people will appreciate a sudden and radical shift in art style. And for another, I'm not sure readers will even think a change is necessary!

I've been making a few sketches, and so far I like what I'm coming up with. Kit and Liz look less cutesy, and I think it works.

This is one of many sketches I've made. I posted this one because I like the little scene I wrote for it

Kit being unable to vote is actual canon.

Liz works quite well... Kit I'm not so hot on.

I actually like the way Kit looks, but I don't think it's "Kit" enough.

But she is puckering her lips and squinting in order to look tough. I should draw a few pictures of her w/o an expression. I will post a bunch more later. I was going to work on a page tonight but I think I'll work on refining this style instead.

To be honest, I don't really see much of a difference between the two styles, except that Kit looks a lot less good in the second one.

Yeah Kit in that has good and bad points. The prominent lips and the small eyes are the real issues, I know she's supposed to be pursing them there but big noticeable lips on Kit just look wrong. And I dunno I kinda think big expressive eyes fit her. That said the sleeker pointier facial shape and the nose look better, maybe if you kept those and made them work with a mouth and eyes more like she currently has. But yeah the small eyes and big lips make her not even look like Kit to me. Also it just me or does she look bustier there?

Liz I like, though I might make the eye bags a bit more prominent, doesn't quite look like her without them being really noticeable. Then again I'm also a big fan of her normal design. but if the eyebags are bigger I'd say they'd be about equal.

But yeah, dramatic art shifts are generally only appreciated if it's because the artist has improved(see Gunnerkrigg Court). You're good already, and this is a sideways shift, if not a downwards one with Kit.

I'm still working on it, but I think Kit looks better now. I got sleepy earlier than I thought I would so I didn't take the time to post anything :P

I need to start working on pages this week so I can't play around with this idea forever. I need to decide today if I'm going to change or not.

I do like Kit with a larger mouth, though maybe not as huge lips (though I still like them). Having a big mouth seems to suit her character

Even after I learned, grew up, and came to be on the right side of a lot of important issues, I was still angry, abrasive, and generally increased the amount of hate in the world, in pretty unacceptable ways. On the off chance that someone is taking a trip down memory lane looking through those old threads, I wanted to devote my signature to say directly to you, I'm sorry.
