Shaw, I think. But the general consensus around the house is that the router is what's giving us the trouble.

We've sort of... accumulated stuff - new computer parts, my dad got a laptop, I got a wifi stick for my PC, then my sister got a laptop, then me... Me mum and dad dun really know anything about setting up computers, so we just winged it, whatever worked best at that point in time.

So while I imagine our router has problems, I think we just need to scrap the internet connection settings and re-do everything.

Bear in mind, Shaw is known for throttling internet as well. But yes, setting up your network may help a lot here.

Yeah if you save the Steamapps/common folder, where 99% of game data is kept, you can save yourself a lot of download time. When you reinstall Steam, just plop it back where it used to be.

Your games list won't immediately show up, but when you go to download it, Steam will recognize the files and auto-verify. That can take a while to be honest, but better than downloading for most.

Wait...you can actually just do that? Because making backups the regular way takes a looooooooooooong time
