McCoy ain't so bad.
I am more annoyed with that one psychologist who's never, ever wrong with his diagnosis. I get that him being right or wrong is insignificant with respect to getting in the police work and the lawyer work in one episode, but damnit. That smug asshole and his assessments annoy me all the time.

I acknowledge that this show always makes the defense lawyers look like hilariously evil and smug caricatures, so as to make the prosecutors look like the good guys in every situation.
But hating on Jack McCoy? Come on, now.

McCoy was my favorite prosecutor on Law and Order, part of it was probably because of the proximity to Lennie Briscoe.
Granted, I never watched the show after he left. So, I can't give you an accurate assessment of how much was just residual Briscoe awesome.

He fucking goads witnesses into not testifying if they might impact the prosecution's case, he makes closing statements based entirely on emotion instead of fact, he withholds evidence. He's an asshole. Except the show NEVER actually addresses the fact that he's an asshole who breaks the law to get convictions in any meaningful way. He'd be a villain in any other show but on Law and Order he's a hero.
