Christopher Nolan is making a movie so I will probably enjoy watching this one.

I think Smarty and Liz are right, but I've had no faith in this one at all, considering how awful TDK was. When Nolan can get Scarecrow right, and get a close enough representation of Ra's, but can't get the fucking JOKER right, I have little faith in his ability to handle Bane and Catwoman. I still think Bane's costume is awful- a Luchador mask might actually be LESS ridiculous than that mess he's got going on. Frankly, I'm glad this is Nolan's last Batman moveie.

I don't think anyTHING is universally loved, but Joker and TDK in general are about as universally loved as movies get, in my experience.
And I run a movie store so I have experience. |

That's so PC of you

i... honestly can't conceive of what a "proper" joker would be to you, to me, the movie one was the most Spot on thing i've ever seen to what the character could look like in a realistic world, that i have trouble imagining any deviation from that.

Or, maybe, if I'm willing to put my suspension of disbelief away enough to accept a man dressed as a bat who fights crime and works with the police, along with villains who use fear gas and walk around with third degree burns over half of their body, I'm willing to put my suspension of disbelief away long enough to see a proper fucking Joker. For all the BS about how the Nolan movies are "realistic," everyone seems to forget that at its core, the entire fucking premise is uncharacteristic, and maybe that's okay. I mean for fuck's sake, it's been proven time and time again that stories with Joker can be gritty and dark without taking away everything that makes the character recognizable. If being annoyed by that makes me a "hipster," it only goes to show how utterly meaningless that word is.
