Like Magus said... The angle of this movie is that Jor El knew that Kal El would be superior to the whole of the Human race and that they would look up to him and worship him to some degree... which its actually quite a bit of truth from the Superman Mythos. He is "the" superhero after all...
Thing is, Superman learned Humility from his earthly upbringing. In the end, he decided to help people because he knew it that it was the right thing to do with the gifts that he had and never searched adoration or expected it from them. The Superman from DCAU is a very good example actually. Most of my DC knowledge comes from there... a LOT of it is due to Justice league cartoon and Batman Cartoon... he suffers from "Harvey dent-itis". He is a symbol and he can't be seen being bad or vengeful or evil caue people look up to him and want to be better because of him. I mean, look at one of the very best momments of expresion from Kal El ever made... |

Superman Vs. The Elite is a good movie with the same exact thing at the end. When Superman goes off the deep end it's like "holy crap we are all dead".

I liked that George Newbern's "evil Superman" voice is just his Sephiroth voice.
Because that actually makes sense. ---------- Post added at 12:55 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:53 PM ---------- Huh, for some reason I thought I was posting this in the Injustice thread but it's applicable for both.

I'm disappointed so much of the alien stuff looks like it came from the Alien franchise.

Moviebob made a commentary-teaser on stuff he heard on Kryptonian technology that i found interesting... it was in the lines of Krypton seeming highly advanced and at the same time stagnated on their current technology level, which should in some degree be relevant to the backstory of this new movie.
So i found that interesting. |

To speculate on that technology: that first scene seems to be some kind of Kryptonian war or something. I guess General Zod's attempted coup?

I don't know. There's what appears to be laser fire between ships fighting. Maybe they are going with The Animated Series version of Brainiac and this is Brainiac destroying Krypton by turning the global defense network against itself or something? Instead of destroying it through inaction? Or maybe Zod has turned the weapons on it or something...
It's definitely something we haven't seen before, be it another version of the planet being destroyed or the actual war with Zod. |

If it's a war, it'll be Zod. DC and Warner Bros are tenatively dipping their toes into this movie franchise continuity thing, I'm not sure they'll have the awareness to stick in Brainiac right at the start if he has little bearing on the rest of the film, especially if it is only a veiled reference to a cartoon.

Speaking of DC world... a little bit of speculation, shall we?
Let's assume that DC is ready to go full out with this thing. That man of steel really is the first step into the new DC movie unniverse and it will all come together into the justice league movie in a few years... Ok, check this out... You know in the movie, how Supes finds this huge ass Alien looking ship in the artic? Ok, that's the fortress of solitude. But not only that... it is also a kryptonia ship. Also where he finds information from his father and the superman costume. Why? Cause the costume is adult sized and we are already in the knowing that he only gets the costume later on in life... if his father intended for him to have the costume since the start, he would send it with him as a baby. I also know he will find a Recording from Jor El later in life because you simply don't sign in Russel Crow to kill him off in the first 10 minutes and not use him again... From that, i jump to the speculation that the superman outifit "Hope-S" and everything, is actually the official Uniforn of a Kriptonian ambassador or some other sort of of political figure with a non-aggressive stance. Also explains the "Hope" on his chest. Now... why would there be a secondary ship stranded in the artic? Why does it cary info from Jor el and the costume? We know it doesn't belong to Zod, that makes no sense... my idea here is that more likely Zod followed that ship in search of Kal El and ended up on Earth. So... we get to the end of the movie and that plot point kinda stays in the air, right? Well it just so happens that the navigation control of that ship was in fact Braniac. let's just jump some hoops here and assume Braniac finds his way to Lex Luthor... Lo' and behold... we have our Justice League villain, complete with the ability of creating a powerful, yet screen-disposable army of enemies. Now imagine this scene of Lex finding Braniac being the "Post-credits" scene... Yep, I would be hyped for that. So, here is the big question... let's consider what we know from the trailers. Let's propose that it is in fact the DC unniverse and the arrival of Zod makes the heroes aware of one another... how do you think this Aesthetic would feel for the other heroes? Cause, i can in fact see how they get this mold from this superman trailer and transfer this to Aquaman or Wonder Woman... it can work in that scale... not so sure about Batman though. Actually... if they do reboot Batman for this, he is probably going to be the last one... and just to make sure that the Supernatural element exists in his world he is very likely to fight Killer Croc or Grundy... |
