As to knowing the other spells, that makes sense. So that settles how he did it, but not why. This was before Hadoken, and in one case he even said that "non-level 9 spells aren't in my particular idiom." Perhaps temporary anti-insanity? Wherein he realized that he could save his Hadoken for something else? Of course, something like that would have required intervention on a level even Sarda might have difficulty understanding (remember his explanation of what BM needs to sacrifice for power? He obviously can't alter people's minds directly).

Yes, BM says that non-level 9 spells aren't really him, or at least words to that effect, but all that means is he is loathe to use them, he sees them as being beneath him.

maybe the bee thing is a mash together of ice, fire, lit, and such, causing a mini hadoken?

Okay. I've figured out how. Several plausible explanations have been presented by now. But why? Why would he use a non-Hadoken in the forest, when he hadn't used his earlier Hadoken for the day? Though of course resting once does kinda make sense, because that would allow him to use a Hadoken in the forest, and the next day, when they got to Garland's he could use another. I guess I'll have to go with that. Excellent suggestion. Now why didn't I think of that... Oh, right. I live with someone who had nigh-Fighter-like stupidity.

Redmage should really be the only one who the 1 a day things matter to, he is the only one in the group who cares or pays attention to the will of the Dice and all the DnD such. So BM should be blowing things up more often, cause conbustable things are fun.

The use of Bolt-2 should be enough proof that BM knows some, if not all, non-level-nine spells. He must've learned them at Black Mage camp, or perhaps by himself before he was powerful enough for the Hakoden.

I have it! The true solution! Unless Brian says otherwise, this is probably it! I was reading Bob and George and noticed the existance of the "gag reflex", which allows anything to happen, just so that a joke will have a punchline. Namely, the "bee incident".
