You can still have a character Sithdarth, Raiden does it all the time when he GM's. Being the GM gives you the constitutional right to make your character the leader of our little band, or whatever. You only have to make your character oblivious to the storyline, and have him inexplicably lead us along there. In other words, your guy will know how to ask all the right questions, and your Operator can give the right answers in the case that we are total morons and are keeping the RP deadlocked because we don't know what to do next.
If this RP were a book, your characters would be the Index and the Table of Contents. Get it? By the way, is it still 20 points to start with?

Hmm...
You say that one can only take levels in one higher-level power. Since some powers require "Reading the Code," does that mean that these powers are inaccessible at the start? By the way, I ought to warn you that I am new to RPing, so if I am not doing things correctly, please correct me.

Thanks .
I'll have a character sheet up as soon as I can. It'll probably be in a few hours, if not tomorrow (Sith said that it'd be all right if we posted at the start of the first RP chapter - I hope that tomorrow is good enough). [edit]Amost forgot... Am I correct in assuming that the points for higher powers comes from the same pool as those for "normal" powers?[/edit]

I'm am thinking of pulling in other ships to help you guys one some missions which means I have to keep track of them, you, and the bad guys. That makes keeping up with my own character a little harder. I may, however, make a character that shows up when your stuck on something to give cryptic hints. These would be situations in which the operator couldn't give you the answer because it's not in the code. Prereqs don't count as your one higher level skill area because they are required for you to have other skills. This means that you could take reading the code programing level 1 and on of the three skills under programing that require you to have programing. That or you could take reading the code programing level 1 and some other skill like flight. All the kills are drawn from the same pool of 20 points but you will get more as the RP goes along. Which means you'll face harder opponents as well. I hope you like searching for things because the running theme of this is going to be retriving pieces of code that must be brought to the Zion controlled region so they can be reassembled. That will be the main overtone of the game but you will have many other jobs to do as well. I told you that because it's going to come out in like the first post in the chapter thread.

Yes you are, and that pool seems to be 20 points at this point.

All right, my character:
Name: Adept Status: Awakened Age: 22 Gender: Male Abilities: Telekinesis, Level 1 Reading the Code, Level 1 Programming, Level 1 Cloak, Level 1 Martial Skills: Quarterstaff Description: Adept is slightly built caucasian with black hair and brown eyes. He wears ordinary pants and a tee-shirt, and an old, dark green raincoat worn with the hood up (irrespective of the weather). He carries a strong quarterstaff. Bio: Adept was awakened in his twenty-first year. Unlike many who resist their new outlook on the world, Adept revelled in the powers that is lent him. Under Zion tutelage, Adept learnt how to read the code, and soon discovered the basics of manipulating it. He soon discovered that he prefered the powers of the Matrix to the solidity of Zion. He moved away from Zion, to an unknown location, where rumour has it that he spends only as much time outside of the Matrix as possible. Through a mixture of scrounging and bargaining for both parts and skills, Adept has a small personal ship, large enough for himself and perhaps two others. While it is manouvreable, it is unarmed, and when outside the Matrix Adept prefers to either run or hide. In a fight he prefers to stay back and deliver telekinetic blows, and is working on a way to create a telekinetic arrow, which could pierce flesh like a knife. In close quarters he employs his downloaded skill with the quarterstaff to disable or defeat his foes. That said, Adept prefers no to kill outright, even other programs, preferring to disable them, and is working on a way to halt a program. He is expert at disabling, disarming, and concussing opponents. Where this doesn't work (as with werewolves or vampires), he will reluctantly kill. Adept is generally nice, albeit often mysterious, especially about the location of his body. He has a sense of humour that turns towards very bad puns.

Those of you that are on the ship with Saam the name of the ship is the Morpheus. It's one of a series of three ships named after the famous crew that ended the machine wars. It's a standard sized ship with average speed and handling. On that note we need a captin for this ship.
Edit: The chapter thread is up. Those that aren't on the Morpheus feel free to start how you like and I'll bring everyone together eventually. That and I need a list of who is on the Morpheus so I know what postions I need to fill. Also, I forgot to mention in the skills thing. While trying to delete a complex program you can't use other focus abilities. The program your trying to delete can't use abilities either if he/she wants to fight you off. Same thing goes for copying. One last thing about copying, if your copying yourself onto something it's has to be close to your size and complexity in order for the copy to work. Question: who is the captain of the Morpheus?
If there is no PC who wants to be Captain, I'll take the helm. and also, a little bit of suggestive info: it is customary to refer to a ship in Italics when writing of it by name. Not important, but a little fact that could go well to solving any confusion. Edit question: and who else is aboard the Morpheus?

I'm pretty sure I'm going to make a character for Captin if no one claims it. He may die though so be prepared to take the helm.
Edit: From now on I'll italics the names of ships. Thanks for that bit of info Saam. |
