How do you join in? Just say what your character can do and their basic history?

also, what kinds of characters can we have? low tech, magic only; high tech, magic use; what? I know there's magic, but what I guess I'm really asking is can we use technology too so long as we can explain how we're running the whatever without convenient power outlets.

I'm asking because I want to either be a high tech summoner-esque person, or someone who uses both the wit and the skill, with the wit beast of an alaspinian minidrag.

Yes, character and appearance, history, powers, items of note and the like.

I beleive Kildiare said we had magic with primitive technology, shuch as matchlock firearms, repeater crossbows, and that sort of thing. Nothing seriously high-tech like plasma rifles and motion detectors or anything, but an enchanted item could fill one of those roles easily.

BTW: Kildiare, you dont just need to use Tiamaths as deamonic opponents, There are plenty of deamons and devils of various quantities of evilness out there. I would assume this Tiamath would be accompanied by his general, (Probably a Marilith) And a contingent of Vrocks, or some other combat-oriented deamon to serve as personal guards and scouts. Or go the Devilish route, with Erinyes (Fallen Angels) and the like.

My character is named Ilgivan (i saw someone use it in a MUD and i liked the sound of it)
He wears hard wearing earth tones (he's a wit user he spends lots of time in the woods)
My character (unbeknownst to him) is the last descendant of a royal family which fell from power over two thousand years ago (so very longlived characters might or might not know about his past), but as far as he is concerned, his father was a farmer, his father's father was a farmer and so on, and he does not want to be a farmer.
He knows all about the wit, having been taught it by his father, but the skill lies dormant in him. His wit-beast is an alaspinian minidrag (or if someone can think of a similar creature we'll call it that instead). He can sense motives at a low level, and the minidrag (who we'll call Alemeria {again, saw it in a MUD and liked the sound of it})
is a meter long flying snake who can spit a highly corrosive acid/poison.
he can use the wit to communicate with Alemeria or other wit users, and the skill has a variety of psionic uses.
Ilgivan is, like many wit users, equiped with weapons similar to his wit-beast, and so uses two blades which are somewhere between daggers and short-swords, and uses a bow which is enchanted to imbue arrows with different effects. These arrows range in effect (after the initial damage) from making the target fall asleep to poisoning them to rendering them immoble while still conscious.
