She speaks the truth. The problem lies - I think, is that people are thinking about the hobby, of steriotype and general ideas of what they think a 'gamer girl' is. It's just the same if you steriotype a 'goth chick' or 'pop princess'.

Just because she likes computer games, doesn't mean she isn't going to cheat on you.

Just because she likes make-up and pop music, doesn't mean she will be a tart.

It's the person you have to get to know, not their hobbies. Yes, the girls may be uber geeks - and prey tell, what is the problem with that? Are you assumeing we are all... spotty and wear thick glasses? oh dear.

But... Uber-geeky chicks turn me on. There's just something about a girl who owns more roleplaying manuals than I've seen, has nintendo games that no one I've talked to has ever heard of, and knows enough about computers to realize that Linux is only a good operating systems for servers, unless you don't mind not running software... AND how to fix windows machines and macs that gets me going.

You know...I actually happened to have a personal experience that relates to this. Sit in for a long one...

I went to the ice cream parlor; one Autumn ago, it was late out, but I decided that I need to indulge myself with coffee-flavored ice cream. And I did. I sat outside the building at one of the tables, and happen to here a group of eight girls, cheerleader, popular, in-crowd types, talking about video-games.

I heard mention of Super Smash Bros., Donkey Kong Country, and Yoshi's Island 2. Cheerleader, in-crowd girls...talking about playing video-games, or about having played them before! Astounding!

I would've approached them, had I knew a good opening line. I thought I'd just go with "hi," but...there were eight of them, and only one of me! I'm used to women who would sooner kick my ass then look at me, so obviously I didn't bother.

'Til this day, I wonder how I could have made better of that situation; God had offered a Golden opportunity to me, and I couldn't make use of it! I could've been with someone who is both sexually attractive, and interested in the exact same kinds of things I am!

Ahh yes, I have an old ladyfriend who would be "My Little Shion," if only I knew where she's gotten herself to. Probably already graduated from college with honors, with a career in engineering...

From what I've gathered from reading this thread is that being a serious gamer isn't why I'm still alone. Is it because I spend half of my time awake in my basement? Is it that girls don't think a retro-color GBA SP is cool? I mean, I hardly even know any girls. What's a dork like me gotta do to get a chick?

I'm a girl. I like to game. There are a lot of us out there that are single. I can think of three gilrs that are my firends that game are pretty good looking if I do say so myself, and are single. I am taken, by my game loving geek. But it doesn't really take much for one of you guys to hook a girl like me.

Here are a few tips.
1. Let us know that you are intersted in us. Not by just saying "Hey I like you!" because that is just creepy. But ask us questions like "How are you?", "What did you do this weekend?", stuff like that.

2. When you know more about us and what we like, talk about it!! My guy found out that I am one of the buggest Final Fantasy freaks ever, so he started talking about how he is playing through Tactics again. It's a nice way to spend more time with us.

3.Once all you know what we like, ask the girl if she would want to hang out. But be creative!! I can't really expand on this one, but you have a brain for more then figuring out D&D battles.

4. Then from here on out paly it by ear to see when you can ask her if she wants to be your girlfriend.

There are a lot of girls out there who are gamers and are avaliable. Unfortunatly, they all seem to live everywhere except for where I live.

I'm not a shut-in. I actually have a wide-variety of friends, from the drama king to the band geeks to the uber-religious to those who swear like wounded sailors. I just have location problems (I hope).
