I think you lost yourself there Edit: You don't trust Samara because you've learned that Lawful Good people are shitheels and she is Lawful Good but she isn't Lawful Good and neither are those conservatives but you don't know what you are actually saying

Samara strikes me as more of a Lawful Neutral sort who WAS Lawful Good back when she chose the path of a justicar to stop her daughter, but has since become disconnected from ideals of good and evil. Living an esoteric lifestyle and being 100% devoted to a single mission for hundreds of years will do that to you.
She's nothing like the people Snake is describing though. For one thing, she has a spine.

If you're implying that the prototypical brainwashed holier-than-thou religious conservative is not in fact 'lawful good,' despite professing to be 'lawful good,' then that exact argument should also apply to the batshit crazy Asari who relies on ancient pseudo-religious codes of conduct as a pretext to enforce her fundamentalist values on others (and kill them if they don't comply, no matter how innocent or guilty they are.)
Samara's seriously more outrageously out-there in the extremes of her loony beliefs than the average everyday conservative you know in real life. And, as a former conservative myself, I'd actually say more conservatives than you'd think fit the 'lawful good' mantra. If anything, they're 'lawful good' individuals brainwashed into believing a 'lawful evil' system is actually 'lawful good' when it isn't. In terms of their everyday lives, however, they're more Mikos from Order of the Stick and less Redcloaks. You may disagree virulently with their beliefs, but their heart is in a 'good place' even as they doggedly pursue their prejudice with objectively horrifying results. (What I've typed does not apply to conservative politicians, but to the everyday average conservative member of your extended family.)

Holy shit I literally do not care this much about it, goddamn
Even Bioware doesn't go this fucking deep with their characters.

I hate it when people are like "I disagree with you and want to argue this"
And then I'm like "Okay let's discuss it!" And then they're like "FUCK THAT SHIT man, if you're going to be like that then no fucking way." ...Like, it seems like you're suggesting it's all my fault that I interpreted your apparent interest in debating a subject as actual interest in discussing that subject?

Does this really need to be a discussion about your feelings on conservatives, Snake? Is it not possible to discuss the characters based on the game?

I was interested in having a discussion, sure, but I'm not going to dig a fucking trench to do it when all they gave us to work with was a spade.
Lightly presenting varying points of conversation over the pros and cons of the choice as they relate to the mission, the personalities, and the possible outcomes is all fine and dandy, but It really isn't worth the effort to have an all-out row because you have already decided she is terrible because she reminds you of the conservatives you just have a seething hatred for. I am not equipped to tackle that, so No Thank You Good Sir.

I mean let's put this into proper perspective here and not go all revisionist history up my ass. This is what happened: Me: "I chose Morinith over Samara." You All: "WHAT THE FUCK WHY DID YOU CHOOSE MORINITH OVER SAMARA SHE'S EVIL?!?" Me: "Yeah, I know, but I like Morinith more, because conservatives." You All: "How dare you bring conservatives into this!!!" ...Like, you guys are the ones who started the Morinith bashing and the insistence upon me justifying choosing Morinith over Samara!! I didn't introduce that into the conversation!! How can you possibly be surprised that, upon asking me a question as to why I chose one fictional character over the other, the justification happened to be unrelated to the characters' respective personalities constricted to the realm of the game itself?
