The are was amazing in this, but yea, what really gets me is being reminded that Rukia will never escape her damsel in distress status.

Is it really full out Damsel in Distress? i dunno, in anime (not all, some) there seems to be a variation of it... the best way i can put it is ''female fighter in shonen world'' i mean, she can fight, she can be competent, she may even be kinda cool... but when it comes down to the line, there will always be a guy there to truly beat the evil enemy...

Yeah i can see that, it is just because in blaech we have an even more egregious example on Orihime. Where early one she could sorta fight, but she was never proposed to be in the same league as others, so she was third tier with chad which its fine... and she even had an attack ability that was good (but she couldn't use it well). But then they created a fully fledge arc in the story just around her being stripped of any combat ability (mainly a healer) and be put entirely on the Damsel spotlight. I mean, in her case... is flagrant. But with Rukia it always felt a bit more subversive...

Rukia was incredibly weak for a long time.
Orihime is absurdly powerful, but completely against the idea of hurting others and lacking the resolve and courage to actually do the things she can. At least Rukia is trying. |

Ok that definitely did not go how I was predicting. I may even need to take back what I said. But waiting to make sure this doesn't double back

Well... she still kinda needed to be ''recognized'' by Byakuya first... so that's pretty much why i'm always a bit confused on her stand as a character... but yeah, cool moment of awesome at the end there!

Love how Byakuya basically just showed up and went. "Yeah As Nodt, thanks for taking my Bankai. I learned a lot of neat tricks without it. Oh and Rukia stop trolling the bastard and use your Bankai already. I know you have one now, because I can sense how much stronger you've become."
Rukia: *sigh* "Fine I'll stop messing around. BANKAI!" As Nodt: "FUCK!" XD

Reminds me abit of my early Table Top RPG days. In my group we played Exalted and any time you rolled far more successes than dice, like around double, we'd call it a bankai roll since as a rule it meant you just curb stomped the guy.
Obviously we started playing around the time bankai was introduced and it was basically the "I win" move.
