I just noticed for the first time in my life that they wear their rings on their pointer finger instead of their, you know, ring finger. So that annoys me.

The ring finger is for mere jewelry, weaponized rings always go on the index finger. It's some sort of natural law, or maybe because if you're carrying around a mountain-exploding gun attached to your hand you don't want to forget it's there.

That's probably because, traditionally, one wears wedding and engagement rings on their ring finger and signet rings and status rings on their index finger.

As that the planeteer rings are basically signet rings, and they aren't planning to get married to the captain any time soon. . .

Edit@Amake: Each finger is supposed to represent different things, the index finger is the one tied to things like strength, mental fortitude, leadership, etc. In other words, things that mesh well with a weaponized ring.
