October and Erfworld is still doing it s 'Summer Updates' thing. I wonder if they're gonna wrap this up at some point or if I should just start thinking of Erf as a serially published novel. Which really wouldn't be too bad of a thing, to be honest.

Eh. The writing style isn't magnificent. It's good, mind you, and the plot gets 12 out of 10 on my personal scale of awesome, but I think that art suits the atmosphere and the world they've created much better. Mind you, I have no right to demand anything... Though I'd totally trade comic updates for more frequent written updates.

At this point I have to assume that they want to get to Jetstone vs. Gobwin Nob before going back to art and that took longer than they thought it would.

Erfworld comics are about smart guys smarting their way out of impossible strategic situations. Book one was Parson stopping an alliance of a bunch of different sides with one city. Book two is gonna be Charlie saving the world from the Arkenpliers.

Depends--is what you think he's doing the storyline he planned to do 8 years ago?

Though now it makes me wonder what it would have been like with Dina instead of Amber.

Pretty much - I took that with a grain of salt when I first read it (Because who's going to know what Willis has planned other than Willis, and if he says "I dropped the idea completely" I'll take his word for it) but I'm actually excited to see what he's got planned.

Though I have to wonder at this point who of the cast of It's Walky isn't located near Shortpacked! the store.

Naah, though I'd love that, I think that Charlie is much more valuable as an unknown factor in the strategic constellation of erfworld, capable of matching or even surpassing Parson. I think that, while we'll find out more about him, Parson is going to remain the main character. Rather, I think that something's gonna happen to Wanda and Anson, they'll either break off (form a new side) or be defeated and it will yet again be up to Parson to take command.

Writing that I actually see the cliche shining through, so that's probably not going to happen... but I stand by my opinion that Charlie=/=Main character.

Regarding the latest story post...
One of the things I love about the comic is that, whenever you drop your guard and begin treating erfworld as nothing but a strategy game, something comes up that makes you realise that, despite the cutesy nature and turn-based warfare, this "world" is as visceral as ours. I cannot possibly predict how Parson will react...
