I drew this today. Don't ask me why because I don't know. My only answer is that I may be a deeply disturbed person. Although I think the inking job is fantastic, if I do say so myself, although I need to erase the pencil lines.

If you color it, try to show some structure with the shading. That way, the mouth in that bottom panel isn't just a square floating in space. If you color it, also remember that not all outlines have to be black. If a face has a heavy shadow on one side, you can make the edge white to pop it out. My two cents. WoW! Have you folks been busy!
Still one of my fav forums.....some really great stuff- as allways. I'm still drawing, jus' not toons lately, so I've been reluctant to post anything. A bit different from other forms of art, if you can call it art- it has to literally fly. |

A year ago I would probably say that was awesome and applaud you, but I've been a lot more critical lately. Both of my own work and the work of others. I'm not trying to discourage you or anything, honest, I'm just trying to be more discriminating when it comes to art. If you want to tear into any of my stuff, I would be really appreciative. Its hard to get good feedback from people because everybody is so afraid of hurting other people's feelings. |

Chronoplasm: I like the impressiony style, especially on the sword and her hand. However, the head seems oddly shaped. I think the back of her head probably isn't big enough, but I can't place my finger on it :/ I think her hand might also be too small, but I only noticed that when I looked at it logically (in that it doesn't look proportioned to the face); it's not something that stuck out to me. I also like the colours ^^
As for criticism: Anyone who wants honest critiques should go to the MegaTokyo Art forums. I know, MT has a monster of an internet fanbase and doesn't seem like it'd be a good place to go to, but that particular forum was recently overhauled and it actually is an excellent place for in-depth and sincere criticism. At the same time it has a lot of members, so even if you're a newbie there you're guaranteed to get at least a few critiques in each thread. Many of the artists there are professionals as well. Three quick sketches: http://img137.imageshack.us/img137/9091/head9ud.jpg <- nose is too small... I think her crown is positioned too far up her head, too http://img102.imageshack.us/img102/7...ngedit26si.jpg <-didn't curve one of the bones where it should curve http://img99.imageshack.us/img99/9374/body0hy.jpg <-started this awhile ago, elbow and hands are very off when I look at the reference o_O I'm not a fan of collaging sketches, but eventually I'll turn these into one sketch. There's going to be a background and stuff, but I haven't worked on it yet. Last edited by pochercoaster; 04-28-2006 at 03:15 PM. |

Madhatter, gonna one-up you on this one. Megatokyo is not the place to go. Because of it's monstrously huge fanbase there is a lot of biased opinions, primary bias being the MT artist's style. It would be better to go to the forum on Conceptart.org
The people on there have no real set bias because its everybody doing what they love: Drawing conceptual character/environment/beasties/gadgets/you name it. Plus a lot of big name concept artists frequent it so one would get critiques by people who do this for a living. |
