I get most of the Avengémon, but why does Cap have an Arcanine? And why does Stark have a Ninetales, for that matter?

Ninetails is a high-class pampered pokemon that is wrapped in luxury; why wouldn't Tony have it? Cap has an Arcanine because every red-blooded American has a good and loyal dog, and, to be honest, we all wish our dogs breathed fire.

I imagine it's because dogs are pretty much THE iconic pet for Americans to have. I'd wonder more about the Eevee that Cap is holding in his arm although I'd imagine that would supposed to be representative of some sort of diverse potential of humanity or whatnot.
Stark strikes me as the sort of guy who likes fancy/chic things and a Ninetails fits along with that just fine. (Fits more with his millionaire playboy role more than his Iron Man role) That and the masculine appeal to fire types, I suppose. EDIT: Damn, ninjaed |

I think he has an Eevee because it's analogous to himself. A small, fragile creature with a lot of potential, after you use a strange substance on it to make it evolve.
Thankfully for Eevees, they don't need to have the Evolution stones injected. |

And then another one warps into the adjoining corridor. Foundry Man is one heck of a boss.
