I'll be honest, I skipped pretty much all the thread.
I just want to say that I saw this video and now I'm really, really hoping that James Vega doesn't turn out to be Jacob 2.0. See, it's videos like this that just make me want to reiterate - execution is everything. Yes, having a certain robo-fanservice-squadmate makes me feel iffy, and tiny gods am I ever sick of Tricia Helfer. But if worst comes to worst, I just won't use her in my squad. I'm disappointed that I can't use the likes of Legion, Mordin and Wrex, but I'm confident that Bioware knows what they're doing. I really get the sense that they love the game they're making, and they want to make it as good as possible. Back when the script leak happened, they said that it was an early version, but they were taking feedback into account wherever they could. And all that aside, the game looks really, really fun. Lots of awesome setpieces, and lots of great scenarios that will get you really invested in what's going on. I'll be buying it. I've made that clear already. It just makes me feel all queasy when people pick apart the little things and go on and on about how it's "RUINED FOREVER" because Garrus's uniform doesn't match his eyes anymore, so terrible, Garrus used to have great fashion sense and they've ignored that to cater to the call of duty crowd fuckin sellouts amirite

I honestly don't give a shit about Prinze's character because he's just like every other standard human sidekick in Mass Effect, re: vanilla as shit and completely uncompelling, defined entirely by the fact that they're "just" humans without anything special. That's not really that hard to accept, because Ashley, Kaidan, Miranda and Jacob were all about as engaging as plywood, so uninteresting human sidekicks is more or less a mass effect tradition at this point. Its turning EDI into a realdoll-with-guns, or adding a prothean and giving him Samurai armor for no goddamn reason whatsoever and making him look like a collector to cover their inconsistent asses, or adding some 15 second celebrity for the purpose of attracting the Cowadooty crowd with the possibility of sexing her digital copy that makes me feel less and less interested in this game. Sure, if you take them all individually, it may seem okay, but all together it just snowballs into an unpleasant image, and that's not even counting the stuff they inevitably aren't going to talk about before launch. If they really cared about the game they were making they wouldn't compromise on this shit, and if the execs wanted to make a deal of it they could point to the success of the last two games as evidence that they don't need to fuck this one up with all this pandering. |

Man, if you fuckers actually bend over and buy this game, I'm going to punch all of you.

It's not my fault that Bioware decided that ME3 would be equivalent in quality to Spiderman 3 in that franchise I've invested far too many hours, I'm stuck until the end now It's just unfortunate that I'll feel as tortured playing ME3 as Shepard presumably feels fighting impossible odds against the Reapers by that point

So we are clear
|
From what I have read EA has had zero input on the production of this, or any bioware game. So if it sucks, its their fault. (ok let me qualify that, haven't exercised their ability to force design choices.)
like most people whether or not I get this game is a given. The quality decides whether or not my faith in bioware holds up. Which I dont think is a bad policy. You cant really say how good a game is until you play it. Plenty of games people love that I personally find absolutely horrible, and ones they find horrible that I love
